Avoid Korean-made electronics if at all possible - they love to use sub-par components to control their costs. Although it's getting harder to avoid them and most everything else is crap too.
What I wouldn't give for the days when "Made in Japan" was the standard. High quality stuff for the mainstream. We won't ever again see electronics that last 50 years or more (I have several pieces nearing the 50 yr mark, incl. my first "stereo", an all-in-one AM/FM + turntable and speakers. Still works great.). Besides the use of crap components, the industry is also vexed with too much "planned obsolescence". As for the OP's question ... Sony. I have a PS3 and a BDP-S790 and they both perform well. Is the 5200 a replacement for the 790 ? Last edited by Midnight Rambler; 01-20-2015 at 02:33 AM. |
