Yes! Yes! Yes!

This 1977 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau has been one of my faves since childhood, so my prayers have finally been answered.

Ahhhh... Barbara Carrera.

Even though I figured this was a lock for a release here sooner than later, I picked up the UK disc because the price at the time was about equivalent to what I'd pay for a Kino or Shout edition.
I expect the Kino will use the same MGM master on the UK disc, which I thought looked great and a nice step up from the Midnight Movies DVD of more than a decade back.

Fans of the film, of which I'm one, should be very happy with the Kino when they get it.

This will be a semi-blind buy for me. I caught the first 40 minutes or so on TV and really liked what I saw. I know it's a flawed film from various reviews I've read over the years but I don't care - can't wait to watch the rest of it.

Although it's not really in the same league as Island of Lost Souls, I'm delighted Kino is releasing it and will certainly be picking it up.

I keep being surprised and delighted by Kino's announcements for this year.

It would be interesting if they could find the original ending - either as a bonus feature or bridge to be included.

Wow, looks like Kino is filling a lot of holes in my collection this year. Awesome.

I've only seen this once (many, many, many years ago, on TV), and unfortunately I don't really remember much of it. But consider me intrigued.

I enjoyed it as a kid - partly because I thought Michael York was hot. It may lack the intensity of some of the better horror movies from the same decade, but I'll no doubt want to revisit it.

I'll be interested to see how it stacks up against the UK release. No extras on that one but the transfer is okay if a bit dated and inconsistent at times.

Another great release from Kino. Burt Lancaster is good as Dr. Moreau, not to mention Richard Basehart as the Sayer of the Law. I'm really looking forward to this release.

I didn't know for sure that there was a different ending --
[Show spoiler] although in the film it sure feels like they were about to go for a shock-cut of her changing.

It had to exist though, as proved by this still:

I watched this at the cinema! As a kid, the shocking scene on the shore during the climax terrified me.

I watched the John Frankenheimer's version too but prefer the original.
I have the UK DVD but I may upgrade

This isn't the original -- it's Island Of Lost Souls from 1932. It's also the best version!

I'd love to see that.... I've heard about it for years and years and if you watch the final scene in the boat you can clearly see where a change of editing happened....

I DVRed the Marlon Brando remake the other night, but still haven't watched it.

Always heard it was a steaming pile of crap, but still intrigues me.

Even though the Island of Lost Souls original to me is better, this was a great film in its own right. Ill be getting it in June. It has that 70s vibe, good action and acting.

You heard right.

I own Island of Lost Souls and absolutely love it. I've been curious about the 1977 remake for years.
