Crota is such a pain in the ass. We got him down below half health but then took too long to take out the ogres, so frustrating spending two hours and no reward

Honestly I think the whole enrage thing takes the fun out of it for me. I get the point, but every time I play it feels so rushed I don't get a chance to enjoy the fight!

What is your strategy?

We all go to the left and then immediately into the middle ledge. We do one sword (two rounds) and go back into the starting spot. We wait for Crota to rotate back into the middle and then we go back into the ledge and repeat. When the Ogres spawn, we went into their spawn (right tower), killed the first Ogre, killed the second from inside, and used Blessing of Light to return to the middle area once Crota rotated.

We did the Sword only once and then retreated to the start. When the Swordbearer came out, we killed him and hit Crota with the sword twice (second time with Oversoul active).

At least 2 Ghorns are a must.

finally beat crota on hard today. i think the middle strategy works out the best. Once he goes to enrage, ignore the oversoul and shoot him. your team has to be fast about it. no mistakes can be made. it took us at least 2-3 hours just to get that part done.

Nice one!

What was your strategy regarding the Ogres?

Did you wait them up at the right chamber and sit on the ledge?

We had 5 guys with Ghorn, all of us level 32 with 4 Titans a warlock and a hunter who was on sword duty.

We'd go straight to the middle take down sword bearer in less than 30secs hunter would run down grab the sword and crota would be down just as Hunter got there.

Two sword hits, drop sword stab crota to go invisible, we take crota down with 3 more rockets hunter picks up sword and repeats.

Then we'd run over to the left when crota went right, or we'd go right side when he went left.

We didn't really know what we were doing when the ogres came, I think we ended up going downstairs in the middle room which I think was a mistake.

We got Crota to below half life, but the Hunter kept screwing up, not like there wasn't enough pressure on him to begin with but after getting him to under half things just went downhill from there and I called it a night.

Think half the trouble is playing with 4 randoms from LFG.

I only play regularly with Dudemyster and we usually end up finding four randoms since everyone from here is usually set for raids. It's tough trying to get on the same page as others every single time you try it. I'd like to get in with a group who knows our strats and we can just do it over and over without having to teach people every time.

When do you usually raid? I typically leach off of Biz, Goodguy, Rage, Jud, Fuz, Jafo. I would like to be in a regular group so I can get better at it.

We're on UK time so that usually becomes a problem. But it will usually be after 9pm UK time but we don't have a set day/s that we raid. Usually weekends since we don't have to be up for work in the AM

Gotcha. I forgot about the UK thing. You'd probably be asleep by the time I'm ready at night (usually 9 PM ET).

Yes, LFG is probably not the best approach for something as fresh as this. Heck, even the people I find on there for VOG HM hardly know what to do. Luckily the team consisted of five friends (not all of us knew each other, but someone did) and a random from LFG to knew what he was doing.

You definitely had the right approach, it's just a matter of getting the randoms to listen and put the plan into action. I've seen a scenario in which a Titan places a bubble to the side of Crota and runs back, while the sword runner does work, but I think the Hunter approach is the best.

Definitely go into the bottom of the right boomer tower as soon as the second sword is finished and get on top of the doors. An Ogre will spawn within a few seconds and two Ghorns and a little extra shooting from others will take him down. Furthermore, it's good to have Blessing of Light to retreat back to the summoning crystal unless Crota is already back in the middle, then just retreat to the middle platform (but be careful as the Thralls can somehow scratch you through the window).

Yeah, we definitely need more practice with the Ogres part on hard. We may go do Normal a few times to get used to it.

The start was bugging out so much last night. As you're in the room waiting for the windows to go down the Knight kept running through them before they had even dropped
