![]() ![]() You would think that with Photoshop being around for a few decades, someone would be able to slap together a better cover than that. BTW, is there double mega confirmation on the NIGHTHAWKS being the proper HDTV source? |

Can't comment on the soundtrack though. Never seen the film before. I could check if somebody could give me a hint what to look for. Quote:

"When this film is shown on cable TV, there are 2 instances where there is actually additional music from the score laid over existing music. This is most noticeable during the disco shoot out as DaSilva gets close to Wulfgar - the score rises up and blocks out the song playing at the disco. The widescreen DVD release from Universal substitutes two songs during the disco shootout. The first is "Brown Sugar" by the Rolling Stones and the second is 'I'm A Man' by Keith Emerson. Earlier VHS releases from Universal Home Video, as well as some TV versions, also contained the altered songs. The fullscreen DVD release by GoodTimes Entertainment contains the restored songs." |

I can confirm:
- It's a BD50 - It's not the original soundtrack |

Just watched the new German Blu-Ray on my projector and I'm very impressed. Yes, as expected, there are some compression artefacts, particularly noticeable in darker scenes, but it is 1080p/23.97 and looks really nice. This will suffice for now until another label decides to release it along with its 2.5 hour edit...yeah right.

Thanks much for the info. I assumed, wrongly, this disc would have the upscale from the prior German BD release...I passed because I got burned on it.
My copy arrived yesterday and I'm very impressed. This one is flying under the radar it seems as it's cheap and region free...nice bonus to have Paradise Alley on it also (though the transfer is not as good). |

This is another one where they need to take the original soundtrack (probably from the Goodtime DVD) and the German blu ray to make a version that we really want.
They'd only need to replace a few minutes... |

Out of curiosity I downloaded a claimed 1080p blu ray rip of the movie and compared it to my Goodtimes DVD.
Here is a screenshot of one frame from each; I tried to capture as near as possible the same frame. The 1080p is at 1:06:21, the Goodtimes DVD is at 1:09:11 I think (could be 1:09:13, I forget) I would have put that down to a PAL speedup but it doesn't sound like it. What does everyone think?? The Goodtimes DVD The 1080p download |
