Looks like a great documentary to be in included with one of their forthcoming titles:

Toxic Avenger III is definitely the R rated version rather than unrated. Just compared the opening video store scene with my DVD from the Tox Box and it's definitely missing bits.

What a shame. Will 88 Films look into this and give us the fuller version?

This is the print that Troma has upgraded to HD. It might even be those other elements are simply not available - at this pont we do not know for sure other than that this is the sole HD print that is available. We won't be able to offer any other version and we had no idea that any gore, from the opening sequence, was missing.

Had a look on Facebook. Turns out the master Troma gave 88 Films is the one they use and is Lloyd Kaufman's prefered cut. So I guess a reissue is unlikely.

Crap, Amazon just shipped my copy so it's too late to cancel. I guess I will leave it in the shrink wrap and see about returning it.

I have only seen the unrated version so watching Toxie III censored would seem awkward. Pity because I thought their Toxie 1 & 2 blus were really great and was looking forward to completing the set.

I do have to say I'm skeptical that this is Lloyd's preferred cut and IMO it's more likely to be another Troma screw-up, like the "unrated director's cut" of Part II that was released on VHS and DVD years ago.

Usually I am dead against cut films, but 88 have been up front and said what's happened, and I am pleased to be getting these films for the first time on Blu..........I might invest in the uncut DVD also so as to watch those scenes in SD,as it is really quite cheap to purchase.

Although it would have been nice to know this detail in advance of the release date. Also there are posts on the 88 Facebook page which claim the movie is "fully uncut", then they say that it's Troma's preferred cut so it's uncut as far as Troma is concerned. There is even mention that the cut footage was never meant to be included in the final film, yet the "final film" was released by Troma over 25 years ago with said footage intact.

Knowing Troma's history with Toxie 2, i'm sure they'll sort this screw up by the time they get around doing their own blu-ray of Toxie 3.

Does Lloyd and Troma have a twitter? Spread this mess-up to those accounts directly.

We simply responded to questions with what information we had at hand. You know, running a DVD label with two people really isn't the easy thing on the planet - when a title is leased and the lease holder tells you the elements are uncut then (unless it is a film with a notorious censorship history) sometimes you take their word for it. Does this mean we could not have compared/ contrasted the cut we got with a foreign DVD? Quite possibly we could have. But Troma have been excellent to work with and we had no reason to doubt, based on the first class transfers and materials we got for the first two films, that anything would be different with the third sequel.

We are sorry whenever any of our fans are disappointed by a release but to assume we have been dodging the issue or misrepresenting it is grossly unfair.

The thing is that unlike Toxie 2, Toxie 3 has been released uncut since the initial VHS release so it being the one to get the shaft on blu-ray was really shocking.

I'm very positive Troma will rectify this problem whenever they get the chance to.

I don't think you guys intentionally misrepresented anything. As I said in an earlier post, I think it was a goof on Troma's part. I was just commenting that it would have been nice to know about this a little sooner since it was a last minute surprise for those who had already purchased the disc (as I believe it was for you as well).

Overall I think you guys are doing great work so far and look forward to this year's releases, so I hope you didn't take my comments as any kind of attack against 88 Films.

Lessons to be learned I guess, don't take anybody's word. Tourist Trap, now Toxie. Presume Arrow will be doing the same after Shivers. Same goes for Network after issues with a few recent releases, how about Warner with Get Carter. Mistakes happen.

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers dropped to £11.93 on Amazon. Went ahead and preordered. Was going to wait until The Boogeyman and Night Train Murders dropped to £14 to get those three and Mother's Day but decided to play it safe in case it didn't go that low again.

Hopefully they drop soon so I don't have to worry about them.
