Does it actually cost less to use black and white inside artwork or is it just a myth?

Why do you guys keep saying the interior is BLACK and white? It isn't. It's a full color picture that was desaturated and then given a monochromatic blue wash to match the cover colors. So technically it is indeed a full color release, otherwise known as 4/4.

The cost differential is slim

that's being a bit overly techincal man. i don't think it's very true to say that the inside image in that mockup is in "full color" just because the saturation has been turned down. ok so call it "blue and white". whatevs.

Yeah, it may be using CMYK to produce the color it is and not just K, but it still appears very B&W-ish regardless of how the color was produced.

There's nothing "overly" technical about it - it's exactly what it is. The minute anything is not in black & white / grey scale, even if only 2-3 colors are obvious, it's still considered full color on the print side. So you don't need to think it's true or not - because it just... is. Point is the same: it's NOT a black & white interior- and that's all I was trying to highlight.

Exactly. It just wouldn't look right to have that super bright photo on the inside. For once a designer put some thought into how he wanted to go about putting this steelbook together, so it's overall aesthetically pleasing. Color me shocked honestly. Most of the time we get "Let's slap photo A on the front, photo B on the back, and this random horizontal photo on the inside because it's from the movie and it fits in that space!"

Regards,
So far, I'd agree. Thankfully it's the same one that's on the Wal-Mart Neo case

Soooooooo glad FutureShop CAN is getting a better artwork steelbook than was previously being advertised for Best Buy USA.

Regards,
You are correct. Best cover art. But, for me, the absolute worst type of packaging.

The artwork for most of the steelbooks for this film SHOULD have been what's on the Walmart Neo Pack. I was really hoping for that. But that being said, this one is really cool, but that's what the standard slipcover copy is going to look like. I'm very glad the Target one looks as it does, now.
