Sorry ... I wasn't sure.

Just finished watching The Buddy Holly Story. I've read that it isn't an accurate portrayal. Even if it isn't, the movie is entertaining. I enjoyed it.

Now onto the audio commentary.

Great movie, shonky history - though in part that's because of copyright problems with other real people involved who'd sold the screen rights to their autobiographies and the producers trying to avoid anything they could be sued over.

Makes a great double bill with Walk Hard, which sends up the Devil's music angle something rotten in the early rock'n'roll days of Dewey Cox's career.

I watched The Buddy Holly Story with the audio commentary by Gary Busey and director Steve Rash last night. I think the commentary was recorded in 1999, as they talk about it being the 40th anniversary of Holly's death. (Please don't make me listen to it again to verify that. heh). But anyway, they pretty much back up what you say about the copyright issues. Throughout the commentary, they point out differences between the real history and what we see on the screen, with explanations for quite a few of the differences. They don't seem to be trying to hide or cover up anything. I thought it was informative.

Are they announcing the May/June titles today? (They announced March/April titles two months ago)

I'm hoping for an announcement of Truffaut's Small Change. I'm not sure if it's too early to expect that though.

I'd have thought Mississippi Mermaid, The Wild Child or The Man Who Loved Women would be more likely to be ahead of it in the queue, though it all depends on what masters are available.

I'm hoping for the Un-cut/Unaltered versions of Star Wars IV-VI. This would be the original versions released in the theaters.

Ha! They could easily get 100 bucks a copy and it would be a day one sell out.

That would be great, but a Criterion release would be better.

I'd rather TT not release movies that are already available elsewhere for half the price. There are way too many other fine movies that need a Blu-ray debut first.
