What's the 3D like with this? Were the traditionally animated sequences in 3D (ala The Lion King conversion) or was that only implemented in the scenes where things were CG animated?

both.

and I thought it looked fantastic - I noted this in another thread discussion, but the film is a real hoot and in my mind, funnier than the 2004 movie.

I noticed with The Lion King, and the other Disney conversions, that a lot of the 3D scenes looked reminiscent of those old pop-up books - is that the case here? I'm really interested to see what Spongebob looks like in 3D now!

for the majority of the cel animated portions it's more of layered look (if you've seen 'The Little Mermaid' 3D blu - that's the effect) - the CGI live action bits though have far more pop out in your face moments.

I saw this tonight and loved it. Thought it was as good as the first movie, maybe even a little better. Day one.
