I agree with your assessment of the Books - it is a good time to get caught up or jump in for the first time.
Also, you won't have to track down the D&E stories much longer.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is up for pre-order (10/6/15 release) at Amazon, and it will contain all 3 D&E tales.

I can relate to BillieCassin, I've caught up on all seasons of the show and now reading(well listening to the audiobook) the first book and there are a lot of details that fill backstories and give a very good sense of depth to each character.

Hopefully I'll be done by April 12.

the bluray.com review says more of the same in terms of GoT bluray excellence. I'm excited to watch the season again. I watched on HBOGO which is some garbage streaming.

They suck. Just yesterday, a forum member posted that they were told to go away by Amazon customer service since they didn't care that Best Buy's price was lower.

Okay so I preordered the Tyrell cover online using 2 gift cards. How will I be refunded? Will the funds automatically go back on on of them or will it be distributed between the two? I dont even think i still have those cards, so what do I even do?

Bizarre, I've never ever had any sort of experience like that from Amazon. They have always been super nice to me in every single one of my customer service interaction.

I was waiting to see if they'd make it $30 for the regular set since they didn't have any exclusives, looks like Best Buy purchase will be happening next week.

Sounds like the poster got a bad CSR, and Amazon's official policy is that they only pricematch on TVs and cellphones. You can always contact customer service, but you aren't guaranteed to get a lower price. Since Amazon's systems automatically lower prices to match Best Buy, Target and sometimes Walmart, I find it easier to just wait for the price to go down.

That's prolly the gist of it. It still sucks to be told, though, that they don't care.

That's good news, I've been wanting to read those stories for a while now. I really hope for a lot more than just a bunch of rehashed material in that World of Ice and Fire encyclopedia book that came out a few months ago. Martin generally does a great job coming up with a rich history for many of the families that appear in the novels, but there is a woeful lack of information for much of the time before Aegon's conquest in my opinion.

I merely want the standard slip-cover edition. Is that one available from BBY with exclusive content?

Totally agree.

I feel like watching the series first makes the books so much better.

I've started to read the first book and it's so easy to read because i have a picture in my head, connect with and identify with the characters straightaway and i see them as the actors who portray them... it's basically like reliving the series but getting extra background content from the TV series since the TV series remains fairly close to books.

I've bought the first 3 seasons of Game of Thrones but i think i'm going to stop now and wait for the complete series, same with Walking Dead... i know that Game of Thrones/Walking Dead is going to have an amazing complete series collectors giftset since they're so popular, and i want to save up for that instead.

No, you have to get the Exclusives from Best Buy, Target, Walmart, or Amazon UK to get the extra featurettes.

They will usually adjust it to the lower price but you may have to contact them if they are slow about it or forget. You should always keep your original form of payment, especially when it's a preorder with a gift card. They put the refund back on that, I hope you can find it.
