Elements about the character creation

Big changes to character creator this time around include more models for both male and female characters (check out those sweet Victorian coats), the ability to give your character some glasses and make a frighteningly-close Harry Potter hunter (see the video), and a bunch of options for different voices of both genders.

One of the coolest new touches comes from the apparent lack of a starting class. Instead, it seems like you choose from one of a handful of brief back-stories that end up filling in what kind of a character you'll play as.

Still debating if i should buy this game... Can someone please convince me?


The only game i played was the original Demon Souls and finished it. It was amazing.

How is the leveling system? I have watched about 10 gameplay videos and i still have not seen how you level up in this game....

Have they said how long the game is yet? any online multiplayer? is this suppose to be like a wana be demon/dark souls game but better for next gen?

It's by the people who did Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1. It is meant to be faster and their is online. I'm not sure how you level up, I would wager similar to the soul games.

I platinum Demon's Souls, and after i finish with The Order i'm gonna play the first Dark Souls to be ready for this, cannot wait.

Is everyone here pretty much going to get the collector's edition of Bloodborne?

I can't pass up the steelbook.

Regular edition for me sometime down the road. I have way to many games I don't play atm and as much as I want to play this I cannot justify spending more money when I have a ton of stuff unfinished.

To me it's combination steelbook and soundtrack. I'm worried that it's gonna be a bit unforgiving for mediocre players like me, though.

This will be my first Souls game and all of this talk about difficulty has me debating. I don't really have the time to sit down for hours and master a game. Those who've played Souls games before, is it more difficult that The Evil Within?

I think that currently a lot of people are being put off by the "hardcore difficult" reputation that the Souls series has.

Back in August 2014, someone from From Software was saying that they had designed the game to not be as punishing as Demon's Souls.
Otoh, in January this year, it was implied that the game could potentially be just as chalenging as the rest of the Souls series.

"Demon’s Souls fans can expect the same level of challenge and sense of achievment with Bloodborne. In fact, I think the sense of achievement will be even higher."

Now, I'm not sure if "achievement" directly translates into difficulty, but I am tempted to wait for reviews and impressions myself, as good as the game looks to be.

The Souls games are not difficult by virtue of the actual difficulty of the gameplay. The difficulty arises from the consequences of failure and failure to capitalize on what you learn from you failures. And for what it's worth, Dark Souls was more forgiving than Demon's Souls. And Dark Souls 2 was easy compared to Dark Souls. In Demon's Souls, when you died, you lost your life, your "unrealized XP", and your progress and all of the enemies respawned. You also lost character status and world status (called tendency) that affected what you encountered, your health, you strength, etc. It was challenging and very frustrating until you learned how to play. Much of complexity of the life/death and consequences had been eliminated or reduced by Dark Souls 2.

What gamers don't like is the loss of progress upon death.

The Evil Within is challenging for different reasons. They are not similar.

While I expect it to be a great experience, based on what you say about taking the time to master a game, it might not fit into your gaming lifestyle at the moment.

Yea with a 1 yr old son running around, I appreciate games like The Order more. Games I can learn quickly, play for an hour, and put back down. Prior to becoming a dad, I could game all night.

Worth noting. If the previous souls games are to go by, you can quit the game anytime, as the game saves your progress automatically from where you are, and quitting can work like a pause system (despite the games not having one). There are exceptions to it working (playing multiplayer, quitting while in a boss battle will take you back near the boss's entrance), and dying takes you back to the previous checkpoint, but if you're playing smaller sessions, you don't need to go all the way back from the checkpoint to continue, unless if you die.
