Still debating if i should buy this game... Can someone please convince me?
The only game i played was the original Demon Souls and finished it. It was amazing. How is the leveling system? I have watched about 10 gameplay videos and i still have not seen how you level up in this game.... Have they said how long the game is yet? any online multiplayer? is this suppose to be like a wana be demon/dark souls game but better for next gen? |

Hey, I’m in the same boat. I still haven’t beaten any of the Souls’ games, even though I have played some of the first one and really enjoyed it.

This will be my first Souls game and all of this talk about difficulty has me debating. I don't really have the time to sit down for hours and master a game. Those who've played Souls games before, is it more difficult that The Evil Within?

Back in August 2014, someone from From Software was saying that they had designed the game to not be as punishing as Demon's Souls. Otoh, in January this year, it was implied that the game could potentially be just as chalenging as the rest of the Souls series. Quote:

What gamers don't like is the loss of progress upon death. The Evil Within is challenging for different reasons. They are not similar. While I expect it to be a great experience, based on what you say about taking the time to master a game, it might not fit into your gaming lifestyle at the moment. Worth noting. If the previous souls games are to go by, you can quit the game anytime, as the game saves your progress automatically from where you are, and quitting can work like a pause system (despite the games not having one). There are exceptions to it working (playing multiplayer, quitting while in a boss battle will take you back near the boss's entrance), and dying takes you back to the previous checkpoint, but if you're playing smaller sessions, you don't need to go all the way back from the checkpoint to continue, unless if you die.
