Mendes says and does all the right things...As if I couldn't be more excited for this film. I seriously can't wait for November!

This is not a jab, but I love how every Bond actress over the past three decades has said something to the effect of, "My character is not the typical Bond girl."

There really never was a stereotypical Bond girl, because all of these female characters have been multilayered, intelligent, and tough since the beginning.
Right on the money regarding how many Bond girls claim to be different from their predecessors. It kind of comes across as an unintentional put down of previous actresses by each new one.

Bond on Viagra?

I can think of a few members on here who will have a conniption when they read that.

Being a Bond girl used to have a reputation of ruining actresses' careers as many of them never did anything high profile again after Bond and they got stuck in B-movie hell. That's why so many actresses try to distance themselves from the cliche of the Bond girl which is often considered merely decorative. It's not been true for over a decade though and especially not for actresses who are already established.

Viagra as the name of a Bond girl would probably make more sense.

Not sure about that. Couple of examples just off the top of my head:

Gloria Hendry as Rosie Carver in Live and Let Die. And Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight in The Man With The Golden Gun.

Good point.

While I still think Daniel Craig's Bond could lighten up with a little more humor (at least smile more often), his version of Bond does kick the enemy's @ss most of the time.

The ending of Skyfall, still felt that could have been done better; the part where he's in the
[Show spoiler]field heading towards the house with a bright light ("Here I am!"), then the movie ends in a very unexciting, deflated final confrontation compared to the rest of the film.

Actually, I was being sincere.

Honey Rider (Ursula Andress), P-ssy Galore (Honor Blackman), Judy Havelock (Carole Bouquet), Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi), and, especially, Teresa di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg), are the strongest examples. There's some outdated sexism, for sure, but even the most fluff Bond girls (mentioned by SymbioticFunction in a previous post) have been capable characters.

Couldn't agree more. There's been plenty of strong Bond girls so whenever the latest one claims that they're 'not the typical Bond girl,' I just roll my eyes and assume they haven't actually watched any of the films.

Still my most awaited film of the year and this new Empire article has just strengthened that.

SF was no disappointment for me and the return of Mendes is a guarantee we won't just be reheating that formula. SPECTRE sounds a very different animal and those comments from BB about Bond being on top of his game, made me think yes we've waited to get to this and the wait has been worth it because this film looks like it's going to be up there with the best of the series.
