One more thing for fans of Pixar movies. There will sneak preview showings at over 800 theaters around the US for Ratatouille on Saturday the 16th. The regular opening is June 29th. I just got a ticket from fandango.com. In my area it won't be showing with DLP at the normal place I go to so I'll be seeing it on film and if it is good enough I'll probably go see it with a digital later. Should give a good idea of what it will look like on an eventual release in HD.

http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusio...last/m/1/#LAST The BD maintains the same fundamental fidelity of the film presentation of Terabithia I saw, but far surpasses it in dimension and refined clarity. Some spotty softness still remains in the photography, but overall, detail and image depth is extraordinary in this moderate to high bitrate AVC encoding. I was immensely satisfied, despite the films somewhat tainted look. In fact the BD surpassed my expectations. The lighting imparts the same blistered sun and washed shadows that I remember from the theatrical showing. Blacks are deep at night, but during the day, they tend to be elevated whether in the forest or in the house. Saturation isn’t especially affected, resolving the immense variety of greens and the deeper hues of a school bus richly and clearly defined. Though, on occasion, color balance made me wonder if some correction was applied during post. The use of color and depth even in the opening credits was almost hypnotic. And the photographic design of the rest of the film was even more enchanting, beautifully shot in location, vantage, and framing. The BD lets you experience Michael Chapman’s farewell performance behind the camera in all its style and roaming majesty. Even the subtlest shift in focus from one part of the screen to another is appreciated under the revealing light of high def. Weta Digital did the special effects. And this disc may give BD owners a glimpse at what we might expect from Lord of the Rings some day. There are a lot of similarities in the visual style. The effects lend themselves to the imaginative more than the real, suiting the story, but still purposeful and convincing" |

I wanted to write this while the emotions are still fresh in my mind and before the numbness of current life takes back over. For me, there are only a few films that reach me on an emotional level...movies that give me a glimpse at the beauty of humanity. This was one of those films.
If you have almost forgotten how infinite the possibilities were as a child and how they could be even now, you need to see this movie. If you have forgotten how much we affect each other in the world, you need to see this movie. If you have forgotten the magic of true friendship, you need to see this movie. I don't want to make this long, so I'll just say one thing. If life is what you make it, this movie could be a great ingredient to cook with. This is my most prized BD so far. BTW, the PQ and AQ is amazing! ![]() |

wow, this movie really surprised me. Just watched it on blu-ray yesturday and I have to say (aside from great PQ/AQ), the movie itself is amazing and MUCH better than any of the trailers from its theatrical release led on.
Originally, I thought Bridge to Terabithia looked dumb (from theatrical trailers) but Peter Bracke's HIGHDEFDIGEST review convinced me to give it a chance. Boy is this a lesson in not judging a book by its cover (or marketing). I can honestly say, I think BtT is the best movie I've seen all year (although it's actual theatrical release may have been last year). I don't want to give anything away, but Disney really employed some misdirection with their marketing of Terabithia (probably another reason I enjoyed the movie so much - you're expecting one thing and you get something completely different...in a good way). The film is made out to be another Narnia, Eragon or Lord of the Rings, but in reality, it definetely carves out its own niche in the children's fantasy genre (although I hesitate to classify the movie as a kid's movie because the movie is equally compelling to persons of all ages IMO). The plot is whimsical yet still very engaging, the acting is superb, the music is quite fitting, and the pacing and execution of the film is excellent. If there's one blu-ray movie this year that you have to buy, I'd say Bridge to Terabithia should be on the top of that list. Btw, PQ and AQ is great as well.
