This is my first try ever at doing screens, so I'll only bother posting specs if everyone else thinks they're good enough for me to do more.
College Road Trip ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't have a stand, it's just a 12.1 megapixel Sony Cybershot digital camera. So, the images are slightly crooked. I'll let you guys decide if I should bother with this experiment again. Heh. |

QuasidodoJr, Those shots look pretty good -- especially if you're not using a tripod. I used to try to take screenshots by holding the camera and wedging my forearms between my knees as I sat in front of the screen. But, in the end, there was no way to get fine detail in the images without a tripod. In fact, I now not only use a tripod, but I also use a timer so the camera doesn't move when I press the shutter button. Any little movement at all softens or blurs the fine details. Larger details can look okay without a tripod, but not the fine details.
Another thing that is VERY common with photographing in dark conditions is that the camera tends to push one color more than it should. With my camera, I tend to get a green push. I had to adjust my color settings to offset it. It took a LOT of tweaking in order to get the best settings for exposure and color balance. It appears that your camera in low light tends to push the reds. This is probably the most common of all color problems for digital cameras in low light. Cameras also tend to push saturation some. If you can adjust for that -- either with the camera or with photo software -- then your images will look more like they do on your actual display. For Example. One of the images that is a little red and saturated: ![]() After adjusting some for the red push and the over-saturation. ![]() The second photograph is probably closer to what you actually saw on your display. I mostly reduced saturation and reduced red a touch. Some people like more saturation, but I like a more natural looking image. I look forward to seeing more of your screenshots. ![]() Last edited by ricwhite; 07-26-2008 at 05:06 PM. |

Here's my new attempt. I definitely need to get a tripod, however. I do hope these look a little better, though.
Equipment: Philips 42" LCD/PS3/Sony Cybershot 12.1 megapixels digital camera Movie: The Bank Job Video Rating: 3.5/5 - The film tends to look rather soft in really dark or really light scenes, and because of the unusual yellow-ish coloring used, some of the textures look odd. If you look at the close-up of Saffron Burrows a little ways down, there's fine detail on the wooden post next to her, yet she looks kind of waxy, which leads me to believe some DNR may have been applied. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by QuasidodoJr; 07-27-2008 at 11:18 AM. |

PQ 4.5?!?!?!?! Sorry dude but you know as well as i do its really soft. 2.5 or 3 max. Very disappointing. The bit rate stays between 15-25 mbps for the whole movie, now compare that to the Prologue (which had a bit rate of about 25-30 mbps) which is noticeable lot better encode. |

Thanks! I'm going to pick up a tripod tomorrow to make it much less of a hassle to get quality screens.
If there are any movies people would like for me to do, just check my collection in my sig to see if I have it and if I do, just leave me a post here and I'll do it up. |

QuasidodoJr, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your screenshot contributions. You'll notice a difference using a tripod. I even use a timer on each of my shots to minimize any movement.
It'll be nice to have some new regular posters here to liven things up. ![]() |

Thanks! I probably won't do any tonight, but I'll do something up tomorrow night. I'll pick something from my collection no one else has covered yet.

The prestige was the same, encoded for HD-DVD and the BD suffered for it. (Its still a better encode than BB). The point is it is not worth 4.5. Warner could be so much better but their not and wont be for a long time. |
