Hi-res
Ultra Hi-res

My understanding is that anything that is "hi-res" or better is 300 dpi, .jpg or .png. "Ultra hi-res" is 300 dpi+, CMYK, .tif. Sizes may vary, of course. This does not seem to be the case here. Many of the posters I have had the privilege of downloading due to the selfless sharing of those who contribute have been 72 dpi.

So, again, I would appreciate someone taking the time to define things for this old dog.

I would add that Quality and Resolution are not the same thing.

Resolution is simply the physical size of the image.

Where as Quality is the visual perception of the image, the impression of that can be expressed in many ways like Detail, Contrast, Color and a host of other things.

So for this reason there is no mathematical formula that can calculate or any image specification that can express--an images quality--in so far as assigning it a number or some other specific value of reference to be applied to a scale, such is simply not possible.

The only true measure of quality is in fact "the eye" IE viewing the image at 100% on a quality display, only that can decide if a image is of some degree of quality and even that will be subjective to a degree based on the viewers particular 'ideals" but it's the best gauge we have.

This is why many sites have a "Review Process" for submitted artwork to allow those with proper experience in what to look for and how to properly determine a images quality the chance to approve/disapprove all items prior to them being made publicly available.
