Sounds pretty cool, actually. And I noticed it's directed by the same guy that gave us Road House!!!

Something weird going on with James Spader's eyes on that cover.

I remember Jack's Back, it's a pretty good movie. As a matter of fact, I still have it on VHS. Jack's Back was never released on DVD in the U.S, only in the UK. So this upcoming blu-ray released from Shout Factory is a treat, for those who're familiar with the movie.

Australia and Brazil also got DVD releases, probably the same disc from the UK. The image's horrible tho. Can't wait to see it in HD.

Anyone knows if JACK'S BACK got a theatrical release back in 1988, or was it straight to video?

He had a case of Forrest Whitaker eye while making this movie.

It's one of the worst looking streams on Netflix (I watched it about a year or so ago). If this is the master and quality Scream has to work with, we all better pray for a miracle.

My DVD also looks awful and it's fullscreen. Hope they found a better master.

I wouldn't go that far, I have seen much worse on Netflix. It's at least in its original aspect ratio, which is more than can be said for most other releases of it. The Netflix version is only SD, too, which hinders the quality. While this master is never going to look good, it might look a little better in HD on Blu-ray. It would be better than any previous home video presentation of the film. I can understand Scream's delaying of it, however, because they have a responsibility to fans to deliver transfers better than the current master for this film is. Maybe a DVD of this from them would be more appropriate if better materials can't be found.

They delayed Dog Soldiers, and it still looks worse than the previous blu-ray (which was struck from original film elements, albeit in 2002, and not some horribly contrasted blow-up print).

Okay, I'll bite... What looks worse on Netflix? (Not counting stuff that isn't in its OAR, because that's too easy.) I'm not trying to argue that you're wrong, BTW (I'm sure you aren't) - I'm just genuinely curious. I remember the picture quality for Jack's Back looking like shit and the video being choppy.

Mommie Dearest's Netflix transfer is pretty bad, colors seem really muted, grain field is clumpy / compressed and unnatural. There is also a portion where it seems to be framed incorrectly, as the top of the frame is cut off and there is a black space at the bottom. For some reason, though, the transfer improves as the movie goes on (maybe it was compiled from different elements.)

Where Is Parsifal? has a pretty bad transfer, I have no idea what the OAR is (I can't find it out online); the Netflix version is 1.33:1.

Troll's HD transfer is bad as well, almost no extra detail, overly compressed grain field makes intentionally hazy scenes almost unwatchable and the print is covered in stray hairs.

And I know you said no non-OAR transfers, but there are quite a few on Netflix (Shakespeare In Love being an example), so Jack's Back at least gets some points in that department. There used to be a lot more movies that looked bad back when Starz and Netflix had a deal; a lot of the transfers that Starz would put up seemed to be culled from old VHS-masters or old transfers made for SD TV broadcasting, they lacked detail, colors bled, etc. and quite a few were not in the OAR.
