That's nuts. You'd think Chinese audiences would revolt. If 3D showings were forced on us here in the UK without any option of a 2D showing, a lot of people would be very vocal about it.

You have to thing about the different society where almost everything is controlled by the government... While it's only film going, it is still a situation where the viewers are not given a choice, and since they're used to the restrictions, they may figure they have no choice.

When you ultimately thing about it, the only countries where 3D is honestly holding up are Asia and Russia, where "choice" is much more limited. (No all of Asia, but you get my point...)

Is their a premium for 3d in China though? Or is it used solely as a way to get people to turn up.

Supply because they don't schedule 2D screenings when there is a 3D movie. If you want to see the movie on the big screen, you have to buy a 3D ticket.
