What a crock of shit.

Sony puts Blu-Ray in the PS3 and they get bashed to hell and back.

MS puts a dinky DVD drive in their freakin XBOX and offers an additional ($$$$) HD-DVD addon and nobody says shit.

WTF?

So, I am suppose to accept old ass technology because some nut job doesn't want to spend a few extra bux for the latest technology? Umm ok. That idiot must also still use a TOASTER OVEN instead of a microwave. Better yet, why don't wall just stick with VHS instead? NO DRM to worry about, we can just copy the shit out of movies again.

Idiots. The lot of them.

I think this is going to be the retarded comment for at least two days. You never can tell what sorta dumb BS HD-DVD fanboys are going to spew.

They must eat retard sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner. How are we supposed to get 7.1 PCM goodness off our games with dinky little DVD-ROM's and all audio being converted to Dolby Digital? (Much like our friend the Xbox 360)

There is only one reason why this idiot is calling for Sony to remove the blu-ray drive. He is bitter that his beloved format is getting trashed.

exactly what format does he expect them to use in order to store the games?...

If I wanted to change discs every couple of hours, I would own a 360....

I don't understand all the hate for the PS3 when it is clearly the future of gaming..

People are so afraid of changes.
A Blu-ray drive cost a MAXIMUM of $60 today. Its probably more like $40. There are a lot more expensive components in the PS3 than the BD. Sony makes money from BD film and games sales to finance the cost difference regardless of the many technical advantages the BD has over DVD.

The mind numbing stupidity of this sort of 'comment' defies belief.

Geez, what an idiot. Games of the future are going to use more space. Look at Blue Dragon and Halo 3 on 360 - both are multi disc games. So I don't see how anybody can argue against having blu-ray, and quite frankly, when the we start seeing all these multi disc games on 360, it just makes Sony's move look all the more smart.

Default how can you hate the ps3?

how can you hate the ps3? i mean its cheaper then the blu-ray players out there right now plus you can put your pics from your computer, music, videos, etc. just like the psp but now you can watch them in high definition on your tv and plus it only makes sense for having the blu-ray disc player in a system that plays blu-ray games i mean that would be like putting a ps3 game in a ps1

Don't be too tough on the guy. Just by the way he wrote that article you can tell that he doesn't have a gamer bone on his body. He mention something about "when games start to need more space than what a DVD can hold" Isn't Halo 3 a multi-disc game? I think that there are other multi-disc games coming to the 360. I'm sure they wish they had all that space as in a BD.

I think we should rip this cretin to pieces.

Isn't he supposed to be a technology reporter. If you or I were in the same position do you think we might do a little thing called 'research'?

Sweeting is a HD DVD fanboy to the core.

I think the person who posted earlier was spot on when he said that this piece was written out of panic that Blu-ray was thrashing HD DVD in sales (primarily because of the PS3) and the future looks pretty bleak.

Solution: Remove the #1 Blu-ray player from the market! Sheer genius..

Exactly right.

This guy (among other things) clearly betrays himself as a tool for HD-DVD, although even that might be too advanced of a concept for him and giving him too much credit.

Default Wtf?

If you had a HDTV, you would'nt of made such a stupid comment!
Blueray is next-gen, DVD is like the new VHS!
I bet sometime in 2008 we will see some 30 or 40 or maybe some 50 gig games? I would like to hear what xbox360 fan boys would have to say about that! It would sound like this: [I][B][I]A 50 gig game! thats nothing halo 3 kicks ass!
it's 9 gigs, and a 2 dvd set of video game awesomeness! Now where did I put that extra dvd, so I can play online against a bunch of 10 years olds! SWEET!

PS3 is killing HD-DVD day after day ,this is why they should take off the blu-ray drive from it.

Cost is not an issue to me for the simple reason.....

My wife bought a XPants 360 and the HD-DVD add on at the same time I bought a PS3, mine came to £380 and her's came to £460. Even if I bought a standalone the PS3 would be cheaper.

The dude is probably some kind of 360 fanboi.

I just wanted to let EVERYONE know, I removed my Blu-Ray drive from my PS3 per this gentlemans suggestion and well, I can't play movies or games anymore. What do I do at this point? Should I call Sony and get this thing covered under warranty?
