Default Really Stoked For The Apes Box Set On Blu But.....

the list for the set is $179.99,, even with a discount we are looking probably at least 120 bucks. Fox you REALLY need to drop prices just a bit. I think we ALL would buy more of your titles.

I agree. A good opportunity for Fox to get me to pay a premium, because I won't be able to wait for these. They should be mine on the day of release, na d have my own Planet of the Apes in Blu-ray weekend. Some Cuba Libres, and Cuban food to go with it.

I would probably pay it too, but only if the last 3 movies were as good as the first 2. And especially now that Blu-rays are coming out at a fever pitch (a good 20 worthy titles a month) They are good but not great, at least not $140 great to me but to each his own I guess.

They don't charge full MRSP. It will be a lot less than $145.

true, but figure a $40 title from fox gets knocked down to an average price around $27-28 so thats about 30% so figure about $50 bucks off at best so maybe it can go down to $130ish.

Would you settle for 2 out of 3? Escape is pretty good, but easily the most dated of any of the films. And I actually think Conquest was the best sequel of the four. Battle, however, I didn't particularly care for. It felt rushed and cheap compared to the others.

If that is correct, that should push Amazon in the $110 range. The Gold Box discount would also be nice on something like this.

I'm more concerned by the packaging than price.

From The Digital Bits:

I HATE digipaks like Indy hates snakes!

If you want to put all that crap in a box, fine.

Just make sure the movies are in STANDARD Blu-Ray cases.

Thank You.

I think the packaging looks neat. But yeah, I see how some folks are gonna hate it.

NO SALE

I agree. As much as I want this, I will be passing on the release. I have a strong aversion to this type of packaging. It just adds another reason along with Fox's notoriously high pricing to be patient and wait. Eventually they will be released individually. I'll let others carry the burden of spending their hard-earned bucks on premium pricing. Had this set also been offered in a slip case that housed all 5 Apes movies in separate keepcases, it would have been a bit harder to resist. There are plenty of other Blu-ray titles to spend my money on this fall and winter. That box looks like it would take up the space I could use to house 20 or more discs. And please folks don't tell me to buy five keepcases and make my own inserts. Why should I pay for a fancy box to drool over for a day or so that will later be jammed into a closet and never seen again. The Blu-ray keepcase was designed thinner because of studio concerns of limited retail space and fear that consumers had limited space to store their burgeoning collections—did somebody forget those concerns?

And a coffee table book. I guess that is better than a ridiculous ape head. You know, I love this franchise but everything I want is on the discs. I want the movies not all this ancillary crap that is simply fluff added to justify inflated pricing.

I just ordered the 4-disc set of The Godfather Coppola Restoration from Borders for $61.79. Sorry, but there is no way in hell I will pay much more for an apes retrospective.

Fox's marketing department is just screwy. I wonder how many are passing on the Omen boxset because of the inclusion of the remake as well as the off-the-wall price tag.

you people are little whiny babies. Why the heck do you need a "standard blu-ray case" for everything??? just live with it! they are trying to do something creative and different and all you want is something the SAME! -which makes everything completely boring. sorry but thats been bugging me. : )

anyway ill prob just wait like a year or so till it drops to about $70 bucks. or a discount...
