This again

If a favorite film of mine or a film i enjoyed was released with no cover and just a blank case or even a hand written blank insert with the films title I would still buy it regardless

As yourself this are you buying because you like the film or you like the packaging more

Yes I do read reviews and if there not positive I weigh how popular the film is and what the likelihood they be released again. there are lots of Blus to spend my money on. I cant buy everything.

Ok, I agree with you.
I could take the Star Wars original theatrical films wrapped up in a newspaper.
But if there is a possibility of a favourite film of mine to receive a beautiful steelbook, I will prefer that one.
I don't say I collect steelbooks etc., just some favourite films. And certainly I don't double dip for better packaging.
if you see my collection only 15 out of 154 are steelbooks.
But besides the film itself that matters, I'd like my collection to be pleasing aesthetically too to my eyes.

IMHO you can't go by "what if" with packaging because chances are a title will get a steelbook or otherwise in some part of the world. For example, never in my life did I think a film like Super Bad would merit a steelbook release, it's a good movie but why a steelbook? Just buy what you like

Not at all

I don't worry about future releases but I have recently been having the dilemma of wanting to upgrade certain films for their 3d release. I'm actually about to go double dip on Edge of Tomorrow if the 3d version is still at my local Target closing sale. I bought it used for $10 a couple weeks ago blind, watched it last night and ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Is life.

I initially passed on 3D releases since I didn't have a 3D TV. When I purchased one, I had to double dip on many 3D releases, some of which I still have to get.
