I really wouldn't want her as Catwoman. Sure, she's talented, but too much of an obvious choice. I'd rather the director go with a semi-known actress who can really surprise us with her portrayal much like Heath did with the joker and Aaron Eckhart as Two-Face.

IT think that Depp would make a grea Riddler is they can get him. Assures another HUGE box office.

i guess i'm the only one on the planet that thinks Johnny Depp for the Riddler is a terrible idea....

Crispin Glover would be much, much better.

also Angelina Jolie as Catwoman.....terrible

all of this just sounds like the news reporting on fanboy rumors and speculation.

Please no catwoman, please no penguin, I don't think any of these villians fit in Nolans world. Also as much as I l.ove Depp it seemed a little cliched that they offer im every cool role though he typically plays them all well. The Squid was a chinese mob boss, they could do him very easily and realistically. How bout bane? Could we get a large actor like MCD to play him or possibly an unknown. The man almsot killed batman, could be a great story line. Or there was a villian, hush who could also be cool.

Depp as Riddler could go either way....

Glover would be a terrible choice because you have to be able to act to carry the Riddler character...and Glover can-not act...

I hate Jolie as Catwoman and think Beckingsale is the ideal choice...

the only rumor that is valid is the Depp as Riddler rumor....Jolie might actually be going after the Catwoman role....but there will be no Penguin...

if it went like so..

Catwoman - Beckingsale
Riddler - Depp

I wouldn't mind it at all...but I doubt Beckingsale gets consideration..

"The Dark Knight" is still on the tip of everyone's tongue. But now, instead of folks breathlessly asking each other if they'd seen it, talk has turned to speculation over Batman's next foe. Who's it gonna be?

iVillage is reporting that the Caped Crusader may take on the Riddler in "Batman 3." According to the rumor mill, Johnny Depp might sign on to play the nefarious super-criminal. But caveat emptor—this could be just as false as the one about Crispin Glover playing the Joker.

Slashfilm notes that there are additional possibilities floating around. For instance, Phillip Seymour Hoffman may play the Penguin or Angelina Jolie could don Catwoman's skin-tight suit. Truth or fiction, fanboys around the world must be having a heart attack at the mere possibility.

Still, the "official" rumor mill is just one of the ways superfans are checking in on the next Batman flick. Many seek the scoop themselves. We've noticed impressive searches on "batman 3 rumors," "dark knight sequel casting rumors," and "batman's next villain."

That last query is very telling. People clearly want to know the answer, but we doubt even the filmmakers have decided. To that end, may we offer the studio execs this humble piece of Search-informed advice: Go with Catwoman. in a new interview Nolan said no catwoman, theres a huge roster of enemys why do something recycled, he sed if he was gonna cast catwoman it would be sarah michelle gellar which is hott.. After seeing johnny depp as willy wonka i can see him being a damn good twisted riddler

Agreed!!

What I really respect about Nolan are his casting decisions in not going for the obvious choice but for an actor that fits the role the way he envisions it.

I don't know about anyone else but I was very impressed with what Aaron Eckhart brought to the Harvey Dent role.

I agree with you completely. I thought he did the role perfectly as designed, him as basically a Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonder. He was funny, crazy, but still did intelligent actions.

I love Depp, i just don't think I can visualize Capt Jack as The Riddler.

I personally think Ryan Phillippe would make a fantastic Riddler. He is not so well known, but still on peoples radar (very much like Ledger). Would be great for the cyber terrorist angle if thats what Nolan is looking for.

yeah he was pretty good in that movie anti trust. he looks pretty smart with glasses on too. (not joking even tho it sounded that way)

Actually, you might have something there. Johnny Depp would be an obvious choice that would work really well... but, would Depp's portrayal be "different" enough from what we would expect? Would it surprise us? Or would we just be seeing a typical Johnny portrayal?

Ryan Phillipe is a fantastic actor who could really let loose with a role like the Riddler. And, I've been waiting for Phillipe to take on a role that isn't so straight forward and streamlined... break out of his shell, so to speak. Take his "Cruel Intentions" performance and put a psychotic spin on it. That could be very interesting to watch.
