Default ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS and SLUGS!!!!!

ZOMBIE EATERS OF FLESH!!!! And Slugs. What a double bill of films from eBay...

Absolutely iconic Video Nasty Zombie Flesh Eaters is given the deluxe treatment by the guy's at Arrow, surely one of their best releases. A great gory, splatter filled classic that has that annoying phenomenon of the original trailer containing footage not in the actual film, awesome film though and I love Arrow's new artwork (right up there with the amazing The Incredible Melting Man art), I also see they changed the artwork on the disc's one of which now includes Mr. worm face zombie.

IMAG1162.jpg

It's been, like, forever since I last bought a solo DVD but I really like Slugs (the film, not the slimy little things you find in your backyard) and wanted to see it again as I actually do have an irrational phobia and hatred of Slugs (the slimy little things you find in your backyard, not the film) as they gross me out (the menu screen on this DVD literally freaks me out) so when I saw this on eBay with a Buy it Now of 99p I didn't think I could go wrong. Interestingly, or not as the case may be, I have checked this DVD and it is a direct port of the DVD released in the US by Anchor Bay including the FBI Warning and sailing ship Anchor Bay logo, there's no mention of the UK distributors on the disc itself at all.

Boulevard did this all the time, licensing previous releases and just porting them. They did it with companies like Film 2000, Prism, and even Cinema Club. I guess they were always after quick turnarounds, as their releases were always £2-4 in supermarkets.

Thank you for letting me know that, I am now tempted to buy The Stuff in the same 'B Movie Collection' range for the Larry Cohen commentary track (which is supposed to be really good) that Arrow could not licence for their otherwise outstanding Blu-ray.

Then again, when would I ever actually sit down to watch it with the commentary on?

Here's what I got Thursday 19th March:

I hadn't pre-ordered the last couple of 88 Films releases from HMV as they'd always had some left when I went in. This time they didn't. They got the other two into the store for me, but Slaughterhouse took longer. I was told that it would be coming in the previous Saturday. When I phoned up on the Monday afterwards, I was told they were getting some in soon, but they were allocated and I'd have to wait longer. Then Thursday afternoon I get a phonecall to say they'd got it in

I kept forgetting to pick up Moontrap in HMV, and when I did finally ask, I was told there was one in stock but I couldn't find it on the shelves. The next time I went I couldn't find it either. As I was picking up Slaughterhouse and wanted to pre-order the next three 88 Films releases, I asked again and they found it straight away. I have no idea where it was, but if they hadn't had found it, then I'd have ordered one in

Here's what I got Saturday 14th March:

I didn't know about these as these are Futurepaks, and it's not a forum I visit often as the other recent ones had come through Amazon. Also, I didn't see posts for these anyway. I'd looked in Birmingham and asked, and was told they didn't have any

As I was near Merry Hill, I had a look in the HMV there and they had one of each left. 8 Mile has a couple of tiny dents on the front, of which one is a little bit more noticeable from inside. It was better than nothing though and these were only £15.99 each, and I nearly bought one of these on eBay for over £20 (I can't remember which one I saw listed, possibly 8 Mile)

If I find another one 8 Mile then I'll replace it. I didn't own these films on Blu-ray and I never owned 8 Mile on DVD. I was going to get the Blu-ray of it cheap off Play Marketplace, but kept putting it off. When I was looking through the HiDef Ninja forums later that day, I noticed that there were two more that I wasn't aware of - American Pie and Public Enemies. I phoned the store and was told they had none in stock and to e-mail HMV Customer Services who could tell me if they had any in a store elsewhere. I'm still awaiting a reply

I'll keep an eye out for them if I'm near an HMV, and hopefully I can find them. As these seem to have snuck onto the shelves last November, I would have bought them at the time if I'd known, but five months later, it's a harder task finding them

Got a cheap import of one of the most unfairly underrated films of the last 10 years, Killer Joe was very good (it put me off chicken for like a year) but this is better.

You know it's something from one of the big wigs when it's special delivery and you have to sign for it...

Got one of the few Arrow releases I wanted which I didn't have. Going up to Manchester later in the week to take advantage of the sale at Fopp.

Last weeks arrivals plus one today (Rollerball)

I missed the first MoC Friday sale a few weeks back (had a nightmare with Identity Theft - so wasn't on-line much), but managed to pick up a few titles I'd had my eye on in the second 1 day sale the following Friday.

So both Mabuse Blu-Rays and M.

Eureka_Sale_Mabuse_M.jpg

And these, Passion of Joan of Arc Steelbook and Island of Lost Souls - looking forward to watching both The Rocket was an impulse buy, based on good word of mouth here.

Eureka_Sale_Passion_Rocket_LostSouls.jpg

Finally, today's delivery of Rollerball (Johnathon! Johnathon!) and The Ghost & Mrs Muir (just love this movie) - ended up getting it from an Amazon UK reseller - picked up for 10.88 - watch out, it'll jump to 15.50 (or more), but then slowly creep down again... so grab when it's 11 or so (not seen it cheaper than 10.88).
