Well, if he can show he can behave and has a good year he may get the big money next offseason.

That's because most teams have the common sense to say "Thanks, but no thanks!".
Why the NFL forces teams into doing this is a joke. The NFL doesn't need any more exposure. If team want to volunteer, let them...but don't mandate it.
One of the few knocks I have on Goodell.

Sharper Gets Nine Years in first sentencing.

From ESPN.com
Quote:
Former NFL All-Pro Darren Sharper has pleaded guilty to sexual assault and attempted sexual assault in a plea deal with Arizona prosecutors and was immediately sentenced to nine years in prison.

Darren Sharper pleaded guilty to sexual assault and attempted sexual assault in a plea deal with Arizona prosecutors. He also faces charges in California, Nevada and Louisiana.
The former safety is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women in four states. On Monday, Sharper changed his plea in Phoenix via video-conferencing from Los Angeles. He was also scheduled to enter a new plea in person in L.A. court.

The Arizona and California cases, combined with others in Nevada and Louisiana, are likely to lead to a long prison sentence.

In each state, he's accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women when they were unconscious or otherwise unable to resist or consent.

Similar hearings will follow in Las Vegas this week and in New Orleans in the next month.
Hope he gets what he deserves in prison.

In 2015 the Jaguars and Bills are set to play a game in London in Week 7 and there's going to be an additional spin to the game: it will only be broadcast digitally.

According to Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal, a to-be-determined company will get the digital rights to broadcast the overseas game, a first for the NFL.

Although the game will air in local Buffalo and Jacksonville markets for fans of those teams, it will not be available on DirecTV's Sunday Ticket.
As a DirecTV customer I'm not really happy about this, even though I have little interest in the game, as it's setting a precedent where not every game is shown on Sunday Ticket. For $330 I expect access to every game.

Louisiana gave Sharper 20 years! The sentences don't stack, and I don't think the other states will be more severe, so he'll be out in 20.

Just call Directv and voice your displeasure, I guarantee you'll get a discount.
I did, and they gave me $100 off, spread over 10 months.
If this starts to become the norm, I just might drop NFL ticket, after almost 20 years I would, certainly, miss it.

Yeah, I'm going to call them before the season starts to get a discount on Sunday Ticket and to get my monthly plan price down. My contract is up with DirecTV in August and I'm considering going back to cable then. I've been happy with DirecTV and like having Sunday Ticket but I'm paying roughly $60 more per month than I would with cable (not including the Sunday Ticket cost) and having DirecTV isn't worth that to me.

News reported that wrong he's got 9 years total. I'm not sure if it counts the past year or so he's been in. The system just seems to be broken 9 years for countless rapes for that piece of shit he'll be out in 2024. Just awful.

The NFL awarded compensatory draft picks yesterday. Teams get compensatory picks based on losing players and not signing more or better free agents to replace them. Signing players who were cut does not impact compensatory picks, so even though the Patriots replaced Aqib Talib with Darrelle Revis the signing of Revis did not impact the compensatory formula since Revis was cut by the Bucs. Compensatory picks cannot be traded. It's a somewhat lengthy list so it's in the spoiler below:

[Show spoiler]3-97, New England

3-98, Kansas City

3-99, Cincinnati

4-132, San Francisco

4-133, Denver

4-134, Seattle

4-135, Cincinnati

4-136, Baltimore

5-169, Carolina

5-170, Seattle

5-171, Baltimore

5-172, Kansas City

5-173, Kansas City

5-174, Houston

5-175, Baltimore

6-208, Denver

6-209, Seattle

6-210, Green Bay

6-211, Houston

6-212, Green Bay

6-213, Carolina

6-214, Seattle

6-215, St. Louis

6-216, Houston

6-217, Kansas City

7-250, Denver

7-251, Denver

7-252, Pittsburgh

7-253, New England

7-254, San Francisco

7-255, Indianapolis

7-256, Arizona

Between the end of the third round and beginning of the fourth round the Patriots will have three picks in a six pick span, as they'll have their own pick at #96, the compensatory pick at #97, and then the Bucs pick at #101 from the Logan Mankins trade.

I don't get why there are compensatory picks. Let me get this straight, you are rewarding teams that let quality FAs walk and not being able to sign quality FAs?

I agree, I think it's a pointless process that needs to be abolished.
Here's an article about compensatory picks. It doesn't go into a lot of detail, because most of the information isn't public, but it might help a little

Thanks, I am familiar with the process, I was another board years a go and one guy was really good at predicting them. I just think it's a silly and unneeded process.
