Weird they go silent on slashers for ages and then announce two back to back, 88 Films must be making bigger waves than they expected.

It was priced hugely more than the Amaray at release, I think, and the art was very bleh. It may be that a lot of people plumped for the regular edition at the time, which left few takers for this version. I know that's what happened with me.

Blood Rage and The Mutilator on the way.
![]() I hope they throw the works at these two. I want Newman, I want Kerswell. I want a Slasher doc to rival the Psycho Analysis gialli doc on Blood And Black Lace. Just putting it out there, because clearly they're listening. |

Suppose at this point we might recap titles we know are coming or ones that have been hinted at in some form:
Bride of Re-Animator Blood Rage (this at least won't be announced today) Videodrome (UK only) Nightmare City (UK only) Hellraiser (seemingly UK only) Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai (seemingly UK only) The Honeymoon Killers (seemingly UK only) Mona Lisa (UK - standard release) Unknown Robert Altman title (seemingly UK only) Films by Yoshishige Yoshida (seemingly UK only) The Mutilator (seems a certainty) There's also the possibility of Tobe Hooper's Eaten Alive, which some have identified on the basis of that Dr Pepper hint and Arrow's relationship with MPI in the US. We can also add at least one more Spaghetti Western to the mix, given that Arrow answered a cryptic 'Possibly...' on their Facebook page today when asked if anymore were coming, with Death Rides a Horse and The Great Silence given as specific examples by the person who asked them. If Arrow was referring to these two (and of course we cannot be sure), I'd say (indeed hope, given that there's a perfectly reasonable Death Rides a Horse release in Germany) The Great Silence was the more likely of the two, given that MGM own Death Rides a Horse in both territories, and we haven't yet seen evidence that Arrow have a deal with MGM in the US, though that can obviously change. For the record, Kino have also confirmed that another label has Death Rides a Horse, though it could be Olive, Shout, Twilight Time or perhaps even Criterion, though that seems a stretch. Anything I've missed out here? Last edited by BarnDoor; 04-02-2015 at 11:12 AM. |

Just noticed this in regards to Hellraiser by the way: "You will have to wait a little longer for Hellraiser news we are afraid Steve - we will make sure it is worth the wait!" Could that mean later today? I am really up for more Altman, and will be really happy if it's announced today. Other than that The Honeymoon Killers, Buckaroo Banzai and Videodrome would be excellent news. I think Mona Lisa will be out 2-3 months after the limited box set...I think they'd want that to come out first and see how it sells before they release the title separately. Anyway, they said 'a couple of months' afterwards when I asked them on Facebook (so yes, it could be July...but I'd guess August to be honest). |

Il Mercenario Drop Them or I'll Shoot Last of the Badmen Death Does Not Count the Dollars Yankee Rocco Tepepa Shoot the Living, Pray for the Dead Hellbenders Beyond the Law Cemetery Without Crosses Blindman Silver Saddle The Sartana Films I've probably left a few out there, but you get the idea. Of course, some (Sartana, Beyond the Law) may still be with Wild East in the US. And there may be others that are in fact with UK and US labels already. On an unrelated topic, I think When You Comin' Back Red Ryder? would be another great fit for Arrow. No idea who holds the rights for it though. I guess the fact it hasn't been released in the US on DVD after all this time could mean they're problematic. Last edited by BarnDoor; 04-02-2015 at 12:19 PM. |

A lot of spaghetti westerns seem to be with MGM I noticed...Death Rides A Horse was released by them on DVD, and I actually think it has since lapsed into public domain (you can download it for free over at the Internet Archive...albeit in terrible quality). So I assume it would be easy for Arrow to obtain and remaster, rights-wise at least.
As for The Great Silence, I have the 2009 DVD which seems to be identical to the one Eureka released 5 years before it, and it could definitely do with a remaster given the right materials. I think that one is owned by Italian production companies...again, not beyond Arrow's usual reach given their track record with Italian releases. I'd like to see any Corbucci or Petroni titles released by Arrow, really - particularly The Mercenary, Navajo Joe, Tepapa and Compaņeros. I'm sure they'd certainly consider them, now they've released Day Of Anger (and before that, Django Prepare A Coffin) and may want to expand in that area. Makes sense to aim for the best of the best! |

Like several of you, Videodrome and Hellraiser are the ones I'm most curious about. Videodrome I'll pick up in a heartbeat because the existing Blu-ray release is rubbish, but the Anchor Bay Hellraiser disc already looks great. It would have to be a very special edition for me to double-dip and what I'm really hoping for is a boxset of the first two films similar to the Dr. Phibes set.

I really hope the Altman is California Split. More spaghetti westerns would definitely be welcome. I would love to see Arrow release some classic martial arts films like Master of the Flying Guillotine and Five Fingers of Death but the chances of that happening aren't very good, I think.
