I think this was part of a short-lived line of Stan Winston b movies....4 or 5 movies produced, if memory serves.

Correct, made for HBO, so probably owned by HBO so probably no release date ever on Blu-Ray. The other movies were Teenage Caveman, Earth vs. The Spider, Day the World Ended and How to Make A Monster. She Creature is the only one worth while and the only one I have in my collection. Would love a blu-ray of it.

Bummer about HBO...although Creature Features did distribute it on DVD. Is a blu-ray really asking too much? Sony Pictures released it again on DVD as a double feature with Candy Stripers.

I will also go ahead and embarrass myself some more by adding I actually really like Earth vs The Spider.

Always liked this one. It's with MGM, they should give it a go.

I saw this on Cinemax many years ago and thought it was an excellent take on "Turn of the Screw". Anyone knows who might have it?

I've never heard of any of these, but I might have to look into them. Enjoyably bad or just plain bad?

Meh.

If we're talking made-for-cable AIP / Roger Corman remakes / revivals, I much preferred Showtime's 10-film Rebel Highway series in the mid '90s.

I like the Showtime Piranha remake with William Katt and Mila Kunis.

Holy smokes. I had no idea this was a series, nor that I had already seen two of the films already. I'll have to give the others a proper once over.

I'm not familliar with this either, but I really enjoyed the og Piranha.

As far as Corman rip off/revival flicks go, I always enjoyed MOSQUITO (1994).

I've seen most of them and they're alright. Keep in mind they are remakes of some pretty low rent B-movies (or Z-movies) to begin with, with the added prerequisite amount of nudity and gore. TEENAGE CAVEMAN had some particularly juicy parts where the teens inside the fallout shelter had some disease that made them eventually explode... and yes, they show it (at least with one of the girls).

I would say it is akin to the TALES FROM THE CRYPT movies/tv show, or a SyFy channel movie if the director and actors actually had a bit of talent.

The original piranha is a classic, I've watched it numerous times both with and without the commentary. The 95 remake is supposed to be inferior in all aspects, including special effects, which is pretty funny considering how 0 budget the 78 one was. I didn't know it had Mila Kunis in it, that at least gives me some reason to be curious about it, I like those weird "before they were stars" appearances. Though looking at her birthday, she must be about 12 in it, so it would probably be REALLY creepy. It sure was when I saw a similarly aged Jessica Alba in Camp Nowhere.

Are they like, intentionally bad? I can't stand the legions of Syfy movies cause they're never trying, it's like "ha ha, we know this is bad so we're not even going to try to make a quality movie, aren't we so ironic," but they're not funny either, making them unwatchable to me since I dearly love so many of the ones that WERE trying and failed. Part of the fun of the original Teenage Caveman was it was actually aspiring to be a thoughtful sci-fi flick. I must say a version of it with exploding teens in a bunker sounds good.

'Good' is the farthest word to describe Larry Clark's so-called "remake" of Teenage Caveman for Cinemax. Even Cinemax must have known what an embarrassment it was because I remember they aired it last of all these remakes when the promotion for this series had already completely died off. It's more akin to a softcore teen-sex flick than a sci-fi film, pretty sleazy use of teens as most of Clark's films are, although I heard the DVD version is cut from the original Cinemax airing. Complete sleazy garbage. I hope all the actors were over 18.

Concur with FN2; Link, April Fool's Day and Death Line wouldn't go astray either.
