Yeah, if they couldnt get me to buy an LE with Chunibyo, there's no way in heck I'm touching this one with a 30 foot pole.

A shame for sure, I just cant get into the big LE game anymore.

At least with the old oversized NIS America Premium Editions, they all had matching box dimensions, so they look good lined up on a shelf that is big enough to hold them - but all these odd-ball one-offs Funi is coming out with are pretty much useless and unappealing in the packaging department - especially without a disc case or digipak with actual disc hubs.

Thank goodness Bebop had an Amazon Exclusive release that fits on a standard-sized media shelf...

The anime distributors better realize very quickly the market is becoming saturated with these super-expensive limited editions. I've already made a decision to wait and see if this one hangs around for a while, hoping for a price drop.

I would have preferred a limited edition set closer to the one done for Chunibyo.

$67 isn't really "super-expensive," as these things go.

And it was only $53.99 when the pre-orders first went up at Rightstuf, with the Got Anime discount while it applied during the Funi sale. That's only $12 more than the usual Funi LE chipboard box sets that RS always prices at $41.99... Because it was fairly cheap, I have no qualms about breaking it up and discarding the useless packaging.

Not feeling this set. I hope there's a regular edition because I really want this on bluray (and save some $$ ).

I was very close to pre-ordering this, but I'm glad I waited to see the packaging. If this was G2 sized but looked like that in a digibook or digipak or a fancy G2 box I'd go for it, but that's just too big. Copying the Cowboy Bebop Amazon set would have looked pretty good.

I have enough over-sized videogame editions that are difficult to make look good lined up and take up lots of room; I don't need to start having big anime boxes, too. I guess I'll wait for a standard edition.

So yeah, I did go ahead and post up a long,"mildly-scathing" post about the CE Packaging in Funimation's Forum thread for the topic - anyone wishing to go in there and back me up at all, please feel free to join in... or just leave me hanging, lol.

Just remember, I know where you all live... and neoz will find you.

I don't mind the slots really. It's just the size and packaging design I don't like. It looks flimsy.

Is it DVD sized? I can't tell from the photos.

What is in the artbook? Is it just promotional artwork?

Bigger than DVD: looks like about the size of a NIS LE, or those upcoming Pony Canyon sets.

Here is another picture of the set. Slightly closer...I use the term slightly liberally.

*I will find you*

I have a thing for bigger sets even though they're a pain to shelve. My dad used to/still is I guess a big record collector and I remember all his crazy old-school boxsets when boxset automatically meant giant and crazy. Loved going through those as a kid and part of that fascination and love for stuff like that still overcomes my common sense regarding how packaging should be.

I've never seen this, but Yoko Kanno kinda pretty much means I'll bite. I'm surprised they aren't re-releasing Season 2 in a matching set to cash in. In fact, it almost bothers me that the two will never match.

You must be new to Funimation. Welcome to chaos.
They do this all the time. I'm guessing in the near distant future circa 2017 Season 1 will get a Anime Classic release. Again I wouldn't hold my breath as they could as well dump it into the S.A.V.E. line.

Or they can, you know, release it with a normal regular bluray box with slipcover

I've already started designing a custom cover so I can have it in a proper case. The book is a nice idea however, I'd rather it fit traditionally on a shelf, guess the graphic design degree is paying off

quick couple of questions

What is the difference between the Season 2 +OVA
released in Nov, 2011 and the Season 2 being released
in May of 2015? they are both listed as 400 mins.
and,
the two releases coming out in May of this year are
entire series? if i get those i will have it all? Yes? :confused
i have the starter pack from years ago but never continued
buying the dvds to fill it. want to just go with the BD at this point.

thanks for any help anyone can give

No difference other than packaging.

The Season 1 and 2 blu rays are the complete series.
