I doubt it would ever happen, but I'd love to see some company release it even if it wouldn't be scream factory and that is Return of The Living Dead 3. I would love to see a special edition of the uncut version.

Yeah, that's in my top 10 zombie movies. For now I'm stuck with the R2 dvd.

I'm hoping Synapse would get it or a random overseas company.

It would still be with Lionsgate so chances of a good release in the US are slim.

I still have the Trimark DVD of the edited R-rated version. I thought it was funny when first listening to the commentary track years ago, hearing Yuzna's shocked reaction on the track when he realized they were watching the edited version and that's what would be on the DVD. The R-version was the one that opened in theaters and was still good even edited for the R, but once you've seen the unrated, it's really hard to go back to the R.

Watching Escape From New York on HDMOV right now. I was hoping it was the new 2k scan but it's not. My wife thinks it looks better than the existing BD but it doesn't

Maybe seamless branching for both cuts?
I don't agree with the author's assessment for RotLD 1 & 2 though and prefer the first two entries over the third entry. But still I prefer the first three as a Trilogy, 1 is very solid and 2 is still awesome, but 3 still gets the least amount of viewings. Still haven't seen 4 & 5 and to be honest I'm not entirely sure if I care to.
Maybe Second Sight in the UK would be the best bet for making a boxset since they already have a quite solid release of RotLD 1. (Still going to buy the USA MGM release due to the differing special features.)

Slim but possible. I still believe that before long Lionsgate will start cranking out multi-film Blu ray sets much like they did with DVD. In the last few years they released a budget 8-film Horror DVD set that had Waxwork, Chopping Mall, 976-Evil 2, Class of 1999, The Unholy, C.H.U.D. II, Ghoulies III, & Slaughter High.

I'd buy every one of these as singles, but Even a Budget Blu Ray with all of these crammed onto 2 BD-50's would be better than nothing. Here's hoping that this Halloween is another good one (last year saw the release of the Leprechaun set & The Exorcist Set) and that Maybe we'll 'll get some quality releases, or at least a hint that Lionsgate is willing to put out a few of these films.

Many of them already have HD Transfers available digitally, so I continue to believe that Lionsgate is just dragging their feet, but that eventually we'll see them pressed to Blu.

I'd love a Blu-ray of Waxwork, I'm actually making a custom double-feature disc of the Monsters HD broadcast and the Netflix HD edition of Part II as we speak!

Yeah I've long debated doing the same. I (likely) have that Same Monsters HD broadcast rip, though thus far I haven't been able to grab a copy of part 2 in HD. If many of these Lionsgate releases with Digital versions already available never do make it to blu, I have plans on doing my own custom disks with ported special features, and artwork as well.

The Sentinel? ALRIGHT! i can't wait, one of my most requested movies for the company.

Nice to see another Universal deal.

I'm crossing fingers for CE BDs of Nighthawks (with Director's Cut and new HD transfer), Tales from the Hood CE with new HD transfer and extras galore, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight CE with extras galore, Serial Mom CE with new 2k scan and extras abound, Killdozer, The Serpent and the Rainbow CE, Child's Play 2 CE with TV version etc.

I'm on board with everything you said as well. Can't wait for the announcements to start back up again, Scream Factory said that they have several Highly/Long time Requested films to announce. This could turn out to be a great Summer/Fall season again this year.

and you would be correct. I watched this Alien Outpost movie. It was lousy. Best part of the entire movie was a short scene after the end credits.

Yup, that was the particular image that freaked me out as a kid when I saw it in black and white form in a book about makeup artists. Nothing else in the movie is nearly as shocking, though (besides I guess the way it uses people with deformities for shock value!!).

A Ghoulies review (From a more mainstream site than what's previously been mentioned in my opinion) that fits more with what I expected from these 2 films. This review also describes what I feel I viewed on tv a month ago. Not perfection, but sounds like a solid release.

Quote:
With both releases stuffed onto a single disc, 'Ghoulies' and 'Ghoulies II' actually make a nice leap to Blu-ray with respective 1080p 1.85:1 transfers. The transfers for both films look so similar it's hard to note any difference between them. Both films offer a nice little bit of film grain to ensure that detail doesn't suffer, but isn't intrusive or overpower the image in any way. Colors are nicely replicated here offering the full pallet of 80s hot pinks, bright yellows, and sharp neon greens. Primaries are also in fine shape as blood gets a nice gooey crimson red to splash on screen. Black levels are also very strong here offering good shadow separation creating a nice sense of three dimensional depth in many scenes. Contrast also seems to be under control here as well since nothing appears overly bright nor do they ever appear too dark. There is some slight crush here and there, but its never a serious problem. Even during process shots like the stop motion Ghoulies running around, the elements are in great shape and don't lead to heightened grain structure or flaten the image too teribly.

My only real gripe with these two films is that there appears to be a bit of edge enhancement employed throughout making the image appear at times just a bit too crisp and crunchy to feel natural. While this is far from a fresh restoration, the prints for both films are actually in pretty decent shape with only the occasional nick nick or speck. Considering both films are pressed onto a single disc, the only way either of these films could look any better is with fresh restoration and their own discs to occupy. 'Ghoulies II' looks better on Blu-ray than 'Ghoulies' only because it is slightly newer film and had a bigger production budget. Otherwise 'Ghoulies' fans ought to be impressed with the results here.

'Ghoulies' - 3/5

'Ghoulies II' - 3.5/5

Earlier today I posted screencaps of Mad Max in the thread which is now locked. Between posting them and the thread being locked, I discovered I took the caps in the wrong program and have since retaken and re-uploaded all 14 caps (7 from the MGM -- I also took them off the actual MGM disc which I went out and bought since taking the initial batch, rather than the Warner -- and 7 from the Shout! Factory).

In my mind, having retaken them properly, the difference is more minor than I thought it was before.

Obviously, that thread was locked for a reason and I don't mean to re-ignite the same debate, but I wanted to make sure the corrected versions of the screencaps made it up and it wasn't just those other caps (which are still live) in the thread, in a post I can't edit.

Did I miss something on that thread? I can't see any offending reason why the thread would be closed, so I'm assuming the offending posts have been removed.

I bet it's the usual fanboys who think a company can do no wrong versus the people who want to be analytical and want to make sure before making purchases. Fairly much a grudge match between opposing sides I think and maybe some unnecessary insults being flung around.
I'm more of research before I buy myself and I'll take my time 9/10 usually.
