DNR in animation doesn't remove detail? (Ok, I'm not talking about the CAPS films, I'm talking about all the others). http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ess=#vergleich And not to bring up all other screenshots of other films like Cinderella where the VHS(!!!!) has more detail than the Bluray!!! ![]() Also not to mention that besides lines vanishing, DNR removes all the animators' brush strokes.(again not talking about CAPS films) And yes, i think grain gives life to animation which seems flat when you remove it! [Show spoiler] So, are you saying that ALL other companies that release animation films on Bluray are ignorant and Disney is the only right one? (eg. the companies that released the Don Bluth films, the Ghibli anime films, the Peanuts TV specials, G.I Joe the movie, Transformers the movie, Lord of the Rigns, Ferngully etc. etc.) Because if you're saying Disney is right then automatically you're suggesting that all other companies of the world are wrong! And again, I wouldn't have any problem if BOTH versions were released. Both the cheap-boring-TV version, and the theatrical and filmic one. Last edited by filmmusic; 04-14-2015 at 10:45 AM. |

Hey guys. As a moderator, I'm gonna ask that you talk about the forthcoming release of Aladdin, and take the debate about DNR to another thread. Thanks!

"different" does not ALWAYS mean "worse"
This... ![]() does have very slightly different color than this... ![]() but the DVD version looks significantly better, not just in resolution, but also in the aforementioned color "tampering." The DVD is a vast improvement in every way. But according to some on this board any variation from an older version is "bad" |

I'll do a dance when they re-release pinocchio or snow white. Two long out of print classic movies that are region locked. |

Pretty sure the excitement is for a nice looking Slipcover that doesn't have huge ugly rating logo's all over it.

My post was mainly made to explain that the "edge enhancement" that a lot of people are noticing probably isn't EE, but an artifact that looks similar. I wasn't talking about missing lines though - I can't notice anything of that sort either. |

Hey guys, this may be a dumb question, but just something I've been worrying about a little...and also the title I'm talking about is The Little Mermaid, but I don't think I'll get a reply in TLM thread, lol. Also, I have been wondering this for awhile.
I chose to buy the blu-ray with the digital copy version because I wanted both. I chose to redeem my digital HD copy through Amazon, my preferred platform, and because I also have the fire tv. Anyway, Disney is still allowing people to purchase TLM on Instant Video, and other Disney movies, like Cinderella, etc. But what happens when eventually it truly is vaulted, like other titles that have already been released, i.e. The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, to name two, and Amazon won't even have it in their databases at all. Will I lose my digital copy? I'm assuming Disney will just have it so people can't buy it via Instant Video anymore, and not take it away from people who legally redeemed it...but I really hope I'm not wrong on this. Thanks if anybody has an answer. Are there people here who've bought past titles, redeemed their DC through Itunes, Amazon, whatever, and still have it, even though that title is vaulted? And yes, I know there's always a risk if you buy things digitally, you don't really own it, but I know that Amazon can easily negotiate deals so if a title is taken away temporarily you can get it back....but I can't see them doing this so easily with Disney. Just I like having my digital copy and if Disney would do that, that is REALLY unfair, considing I legally bought and paid for my DC with the disc purchase. Thanks if anyone can answer. |

I don't know if that's really why AIV hasn't joined DMA yet. IMO it's more likely that Disney is being rather deliberate in who it admits to DMA; it launched early last year with iTunes as the only vendor, then added Google Play & Vudu in the fall as they each offered something new to DMA. Since AIV is now the only U.S. DC+ vendor who isn't a DMA vendor, I wouldn't be surprised if they're next up for DMA. |
