Would the magnetic tape be strong enough to go through the plastic?

Well, I don't have any of those, but my wife who works with it fairly often said, she doesn't see why not.

We wouldn't like to say for Certain, just in case it doesn't

I think I have one coming fairly soon, as soon as it gets here I will give it a test.

Sorry I can't be more certain.

Im currently using magnetic strips on my wall for my steels, but i have them in polybags. I tested a couple steelbooks though that are in shells and they did stick fine, and the ones i tested were in polybags as well as shells. I am using two magnet strips per row of steelbooks too.

My 'rarer' steels are inside a glass display cabinet the remainder on a bookshelf all protected with sleeves sealed all round

Maybe it's because I can't really afford rare steelbooks or glossy displays this thread blew my mind a little bit. Firstly with the pristine care some people take - nothing wrong with that but WOW I think people take less care handling uranium but also in how some of these set ups are like museums. I wish I had both the creativity, time and the money to display like you guys, right now my steels are just amongst all my other films. The metal tape seems like an interesting idea as it doesn't take up any space, but when you started talking about rubber shells I was lost

Not the latest setup but here's the basic idea how I display some of them.

What happens when in a few years you wake up to the sounds of steels dropping to the floor cus of the magnetism dying on the strips

I buy them generally because I prefer the artwork. No big deal 👍

I ran with the magnet idea and mounted mine in my home theater. Each steelbook has neodymium magnets holding it in place.
