So what mode do you have your plasma in? I run mine basically in movie mode with some custom settings based on quite a bit of trial and error.
Everyone run theirs in movie mode or do some of you run these LCD bright mode? |

Movie mode...till it gets calibrated.
Edit: As well as below... Depends which plasma you have and how black it is to begin with. A LG 60/6650 in movie mode isn't as dark as a Samsung F8500 in standard. Last edited by schan1269; 04-27-2015 at 04:31 AM. |

It really depends on your lighting environment and your own personal preference. Because I use amber backlighting, my temperature setting is usually on Cool. My Samsung was on a tweaked Relax mode but on some films like Avengers for example, I play on Dynamic with the color pulled down a bit. I usually flip both noise filters off for BluRays because I want more fine detail but recently I've been playing older film titles like Trading Places on Relax with the filters on as these films have more grain in them. I like the punch... the contrast from Dynamic but it doesn't work for me on older films. I WILL go 4K when I have the cash freed up.

I have no sound system, I've toggled back and forth with stereo and SRS, but the HDTV's position in the room renders both hard to work with. I like my plasma, but haven't been quite as blown away by it as is hoped I would be given what it cost. But my lighting is fluctuating so often that it isn't too surprising, I suppose. How much did it cost to get him to do that?! |

Is there something innate in 4K resolution that produces better contrast while set in the dynamic mode? |

For the calibration, it set me back $600. That includes both display and audio calibration, and the travel fee. I'm excited to see and hear what my equipment can really do! My surround sound really isn't expensive audiophile quality, but I'm happy with what I've been able to get on my budget. |

Jeff did both my Plasma and Audio Cal 3 years ago and did a fantastic job on both. They both look and sound just as great today as the day he did the Cal. He is a great guy and very professional. Worth the $.
