The Spy Who Came In From The Cold probably the best spy thriller ever made. You can't go wrong with it.

They usually have one that runs in July. I cannot remember if they have a 40% blu-ray sale before that in June.
I was wondering, maybe it has been discussed on here, whether there will be a US 4k re-release of The Third Man. I know Lionsgate held the last release, but am unsure if StudioCanal struck a deal with Criterion for any new or future releases. |

hansolo isn't saying that both are correct, but many films were shot in 4:3 with the intention of projecting in widescreen even before the advent of home video. I guess it was probably because it was cheaper than using actual anamorphic lenses and also avoided some of the optical anomalies inherent to their use (Cinemascope mumps). The downside is that the zooming in during projection would cause some amount of resolution loss, but in a theater it wouldn't be that noticeable.

I'm going to go with Spartacus. Universal is set to release a brand spanking new 4k remaster later this year and if history is any guide there's nothing like a really good existing release to vault a title to top of a lot of Criterion wishlists. |
