I did the whole ice cream, chicken noodle soup thing for 2 days. After that I ate regular food. It all depends on the pain and swelling.

What about the noodles in the soup? Doesn't that get caught?

I had all four of mine taken out about 6 years ago when I was 19. They did put me under, and don't remember having any kind of problem. I guess it did kind of suck having to keep gauze in my mouth for about a day or so, until the bleeding stopped.

One thing I ended up doing with some of mine was putting a moist tea bag (Lipton black tea) against the extraction to speed up the clotting process. The tea has something called tannins inside which are great art tightening up tissue, and this good for stopping the bleeding. Works for other minor wounds too.

Thanks to everyone here for their support and advice. It actually wasn't that bad at all. I had a friend escort me home on the subway but I probably could have done it alone. I was slightly out of it but not nearly as bad as I thought I would be. I've been living off of Ice cream, ice pops, drinks and soup since thursday. The pills are making me a bit wonky, but that's to be expected.
Not a ton of pain. There was a good amount of blood, but that stopped after the first few hours. The ice packs REALLY helped. The doctor told me that pulling out one of the teeth knocked out one of my fillings on the tooth right next to it...so he put a temporary one in there and I have to get that replaced.
And now it's mostly just a real soreness in my jaw. The upper ones don't bother me. It's just the lower.

Whatever you decide to eat after, stay away from chocolate donuts.

The soreness may take some time to fully go away. In a few days put a hot compress over the area, or better alternate between ice and heat. This will further reduce swelling, increase circulation (and thus healing), and loosen up the joint. Try not to open your mouth to wide

I'd like to put SOMETHING on it now. The ice made it feel so good but everything I read said that you shouldn't put it on after 24 hours because you need to increase the blood flow to the area and the ice prevents that.

I'm barely talking. Just watching TV and sleeping. But I do have to work on Monday. So...there's that. I figure I'll just rest the next two days and hopefully be somewhat back to normal on Monday.

Nope. I used my spoon to cut them in smaller pieces so I didn't slurp. Plus anything you drink will wash it down.
