to hook my blu ray 5.1 reciever do i hook it to the pre out option or the 6 channel option? thanks

your Blu-ray 5.1 receiver? I don't think there is such a thing.

If you mean a Blu-ray player to connect to your receiver....use an HDMI connection, if your receiver supports it.

That's very vague. You mean preout on the player? On the reciever?

If you can't use HDMI...
Connect the playering using the 5.1 channel output, connect each channel to the 5.1 channel input on the reciever using RCA cables.
