Default blu-ray.com reviews and multiple releases of a movie

Hi. This is my first post. I really enjoy the reviews on this site.

Is there a way to tell which transfer of a movie a particular blu-ray release has? For example, the movie Blade Runner is reviewed here (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blade...r-Blu-ray/374/) and has a 5/5 in both video and audio. That particular release is from a $225 set. There is a $6 release of the movie (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blade...Blu-ray/18392/) but it is not reviewed. Both use VC-1 codecs. How can I figure out if it has the same excellent transfer?

Thank you

Thanks for the info on Blade Runner. I'd really like to understand how to check for other movies. I've purchased a lot of movies both on laserdisc and then dvd. If I'm going to do it a third time, I want to know that the referenced transfers in the blu-ray.com are going to be the same if I get a different edition.

If you look in the threads for each movie, usually, forum members will discuss this information.

Ok, thanks. I'll do my research before purchasing in the future.

I'd like to get Blade Runner because I've read that it's a classic and I've also never seen it. There are seven different editions available ranging in price from $5.99 to $219.95. What's the consensus for the best edition to own?

Thanks

The 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition will have different cuts of the movie.

YMMV with that movie. It's undoubtedly highly influential on other filmmakers, but I found it to be tedious in the extreme. It took me about four attempts to watch it from beginning to end.

Still have Blade Runner on Laserdisc, but I'd recommend getting it on Blu-ray with the multiple versions. Video is so much better. I upgraded to this:
