People keep saying that there were no characters to care about in Mad Max: Fury Road.

I personally found it easy to empathize with Furiosa, the breeders, and Nux. I even cared for what happened to Max, since he's trying to get himself out of such a fix early in the movie.

I do not agree with the hyperbole about this being the greatest action movie in decades, but it's a quality flick and a nice surprise for this summer.

I liked all of the characters. I'll need more viewings to fully adjust to Hardy's performance, but I still empathized with him.

Looks like Pitch Perfect 2 is going to beat out Mad Max as B.O champ:

I didn't realize until a few months ago that there was a Pitch Perfect 1. When I read the synopsis I realized why.

I think PP1 is kind of funny, and PP2 had its moments but was definitely a lot worse. I saw it with some friends and a room full of high school girls. I was amused when not one single person even snorted at the Hayden Christiansen joke, though that might be more the target audience being too young to care about star wars prequels rather than the joke being awful. Anyway, what I'm saying is PP1 is better than a summary would suggest but obviously it's still tragic that mad max will probably now be labelled a flop.

Look, I loved Mad Max: Fury Road and I would like it to be a huge hit. I've seen it 3 times now and it's great. I dislike the idea that we must be in a camp, though, as I'm a huge Pitch Perfect fan as well (although this feeling is complicated by the fact that I also thought the sequel was a huge bummer).

Next weekend will be telling in seeing how big a dropoff both films receive in their box office.

I still think it's a big mistake for studios to use first or second weekend BO numbers to determine if a new film is a hit or a flop. Mad Max and Pitch Perfect are both sequels, yet one will come out a clear winner over the other and it's obvious which one it will be. The lines for PP were much longer at the theater I went to, and the crowd was, not surprisingly, mostly young women. Mad Max, OTOH, is the 4th instalment of a series of films that were made more than 30 years ago so the average audience will be smaller: late 30's, early 40's male who loves car chase movies. I'm hoping word of mouth will help propel (no pun intended ) MM into a higher BO category.

I very rarely go to the cinema these days... but I'm tempted with this one.

So, tell me... is it worth £6.50 ($10.22) for a ticket?

Yes. I don't even like Tom Hardy, and it was an amazing film. Miller is a fantastic storyteller and world-builder.

Hardy didn't even try on getting the voice right.

Saw this last night and loved every second of it. I'm really hoping for some significant behind the scenes features on the blu. I thought Tom Hardy did a good job channeling Mel Gibson. There were a few mannerisms and times when Hardy was talking and shot from behind that totally stood out to me as being just like Gibson.

I rarely go to the theater also. But I feel like I need to see this on the big screen. So I'm going to drive over a half hour to see it. Can't wait.

For those debating about seeing this in the theater, I can say it is very much worth it. This movie is filled with spectacular mayhem and it thrives on the big screen with a loud sound system. I saw the 3D version of the film and was glad I did. It would still be quite enjoyable in 2D, but the 3D is worth it if you are interested.

Everyone expected that to be the case. Here's hoping for a low 2nd weekend drop and a good showing overseas, otherwise this may be a case of Dredd where a great film does not get a sequel it deserves.

I'm getting annoyed at all the morons who bash Pitch Perfect just because it's going up against Mad Max. Literally every box office article has someone in the top comments who I guarantee hasn't seen Pitch Perfect 1 or 2 completely bash it. Do these people realize these are different genres, and most people don't care about how well a movie is reviewed? People pay their $$ to watch whatever they want. It would be completely idiotic and downright sheep-ish to initially want to watch PP but go see MM just because it's getting better reviews.

Although, to be sure, isn't that, like, the whole point of reviews? To steer us in the direction of one film, versus another film, based upon quality?
