The first time I saw this film, I was unimpressed, but watching it again has elevated it to a keeper in my collection (and not thrown in the huge box that contains my unwanted screeners). The Hunt for Red October is also on that list, but Crimson Tide definitely is not. Of the three, I would rank U-571 as the best Blu-ray presentation. This title will not disappoint.
So uhm... about those unwanted screeners...

audio wise, U-571 beats those two movies but acting wise, it comes in a distant third. the performances alone of denzel and hackman trump anything U-571 has. same with baldwin and connery.

I disagree. I felt that Denzel over-acted the part - wasn't as believable as Hunt or U-571.

Why wouldn't they? It's one of their first three titles; It's an excellent flick, and it's a good way to get their titles into people's hands.

Of the three, I'm possibly only buying Miami Vice. I may get U-571 at a later date. To be honest, I'm a Micheal Mann fan, so this is a natural for me. I love this movie, and it has one of the best shootouts outside of Heat (again, Michael Mann... see a pattern here)?

Good news! I'm really looking forward to U-571, especially for the audio.

Shame Universal have given End Of Days the shaft by omitting the majority of DVD/HD-DVD extras from the BD. Luckily for Universal, EOD isn't a high profile title and making it bare-bones won't cause much of a stir.

However, if the 80 minute documentary and the rest of the extras are missing from The Thing (and they aren't part of the U-Control feature as some have speculated), I've no doubt that there'll be absolute ****ing hell on.

I love it when people wholeheartedly dismiss a movie without concrete reasons. I can understand the film is not for everyone, but maybe consider the fact that there are others on the forum who did like the movie? I don't understand the thought process behind dismissing their opinion.

Reviews are in a HDD.

Bracke claims the picture and sound quality are worse on the Blu-Ray of End Of Days compared to the HD-DVD.

AQ/PQ for U-571 is said to be top-notch.... can't wait to add this one to the collection!!!! I'll be buying it for $20 on it's own, rather than $37 for the 3 pack.... no interest in the other two

This Blu-ray release is curious. The video is on par with the HD DVD, and the DTS-MA track is likewise comparable to the TrueHD.
How is the picture and sound quality worse?

I was referring to the star rating he gave the BD vs. the HD-DVD. The BD has 1/2 star less for PQ and AQ.

That is because End Of Days was released on HD DVD earlier. Over time the studios have gotten better, making End Of Days less impressive than what it was at the time of the HD DVD review.

Why not buy the 3-pack and sell Miami Vice. It cost the same and you will get a return on the investment
