Not sure what I could have done wrong--except I should have tried it first in an "inconspicuous spot" as the directions state. I applied a slight amount to a tissue and then buffed it into the area. Maybe that was the wrong way to apply it...guess maybe a cloth would have been better.

Key word is buff. Also which type of Goo Gone were you using?

They have the normal stuff then they have extreme which is take paint off of stuff haha.

Also, I use a q-tip to apply it then gently rub it on the the residue. After I let it sit for about a minute, I use toilet paper to wipe it off again very gently.

Yeah, something like a Q-Tip would have been the way to go. Craaaap....

I just use a Viva paper towel and Goo Gone. I've never had an issue.

It's ok it is a learning process. While it sucks to ruin a SB in the future you now know to maybe try other methods.
Don't feel bad, I've ruined many a slipcover using Goo Gone.

Thumbs up Good To Know

If you aren't masking mistakes you aren't learning Now you know and have passed that information on to others and you are a good person for doing so..Goo Gone is an excellent product in my opinion,I use it often. If I ever have to use it on a steel book I shall be extra careful due to your experience. Thanks for giving me the heads up.

Depending on the glue, another member here recommended if its sticker residue use the sticker that left it repeatedly over the sticky spot, mine came off after a few passes. Same with a slipcover
