Don't get the 506. It doesn't do HD audio. Go for the 605. I have a link in my sig for it.

Ditto! I have the 605 and it's a lot of receiver for the money and much more flexible than the Sony, or any Sony for that matter. I used to be a Sony guy until I got my 605 and now I am a convert. Trust me, and Driver_King, the 605 will do everything you want for an HD receiver. I know the Sony's are more affordable, but your receiver is arguably the most important part of your home theater, except for a great HD TV.

If you are going to spend the $$ on a receiver, at the very least save up a bit more and get a full-featured one (that will do HD audio, not "pass-through"). The Onky 605/606/705/etc are the best bang-for-your-buck right now.
