Default Samsung BD-H6500 Owners Thoughts?

I am currently looking at this model Samsung player since the prices on it have dropped and the 2015 models are taking over.

How is the build quality? My last player was a Samsung BD-E5900/ZA and it made strange noises when the tray was closed and it began spinning up the disc.

The E5900 has browser support but it was atrocious and more times than not would just crash so I am a bit concerned with future Samsung purchases.

If I do purchase this player it will be my third Samsung blu-ray player and to be honest I have not been impressed thus far. 1. BD-P1500 2. BD-E5900.

As an alternative I am also looking at the new Sony line, specifically the BDP-S6500 with dual core and 4K upconversion.

BD-E6500 $127 @ B&H no tax free shipping
BDP-S6500 $129 @ Sony.com $5 for shipping no tax.

Any information you care to share on your BD-H6500 purchase is deeply appreciated.

I bought this in February to replace a short-lived Panasonic BDT-230. The picture quality is good-better than my lemon Panny. I'm not too fond of the menu page (very busy looking, loaded with apps I don't use). I have had a problem with the player in the last week or so--while playing DVD's (specifically), the player will turn itself off and on again. I did a factory reset over the weekend, and so far, so good. Internet research tells me that there may be a problem with the touch controls on the unit itself (not the remote).

This is what concerns me about Samsung they really have a knack for skimping on quality builds. My BD-E5900/ZA only lasted about 2 years and my BD-P1500 about a year and a half then it bricked.. The Sony BDP-S6500 looks to be an extremely cheap build also..hmm Maybe it's time to step up and buy an Oppo BDP-103 and cough up the $500 and get a quality product. Thanks Liverpool for you experience with the BD-H6500.

I work at Bay Bloor Radio in Toronto and our Samsung rep' tells me the 4K player will be out this fall so you might want to wait for that. I have two of their players (2012 & 2010) and haven't had any issues whatsoever. Love their stuff although like any manufacturer like Panasonic... it's best staying away from the cheapest model.
