They've been saying that since last year when the PS3 was launched. These 3 things..

1. No studio support
2. More expensive discs
3. Will be dead by next year (2007) so don't waste your money on blu-ray.

Nothing to do with overstock I'm afraid. I went on a fishing expedition and it was the same bullcrap being repeated across the board. The first guy wasn't too happy when I called him on his bullcrap..he was used to J6P and getting away with his lies.

Especially when you show them their own in-store discs of where the studio support is.

That's the best way too shut them up pretty quick...although I'm sure they will still spout the same lie to the next customer..

Yes, it was a recent firmware update, 1.8 I think. I use my PS3 for standard dvds as well, and it is pretty darn good. I don't know about the s300, probably, because it is standard with most BD players.

I don't know the answer to if it would work out of the box but the update is free via internet. You can either hook your PS3 up to the internet and update it that way directly. Or you could do what I do and download it from playstation.com to a memory stick or a writable disk then insert that into PS3, faster IMO.

I used to work at BB and they give you these cheesy-ass cbt classes releated to the department you work in. It wouldn't surprise me that these classes they are giving employees in HT dept are raving HD-DVD, hence the sales tactics to sell HD-DVD. I've always taken what BB employees tell me with a grain of salt.
