I've noticed the majority of the people on this site opt to keep their lcd or plasma's on a tv stand. I was just wondering if there was any reason or logic to it or if it was just personal preference. I just got my LCD not too long ago and i knew getting it i would eventually want to wall mount it. I was just wondering, however if that would be a mistake, or if it would cause my tv to malfunction for any reason. Any input appreciated...

I originally wanted to go wall mount as well. But I changed my mind and went with setting it on an enclosure. Not in and enclosure mind you, just on one because it is a convienient was of hiding all the cableing and such. I definately did not want cables running up my wall and decided that running them inside the wall was just too much trouble.

I decided not to wall mount mine because 1. I was the only person handling the tv and didn't want any accidents. 2. I have very little confidence with the walls in my house because they're made from drywall. 3. Easier to handle when its on a stand.

i had mine on a stand for awhile....i decided to mount...and i'd have to say having the tv mounted looks better....showcases the small tv size....and takes up less space in your living room/whatever area. Me being a parent also, having my tv out of my 3 year old son's reach is a big positive also. I have mine up higher, titled down at an angle....hands down, mount it!
i picked up a mount that fits 42-60 inch tv's for 55 shipped off amazon....took a total of 15 minutes to mount.....Don't know how having it mounted would hurt the tv... ps. You can buy wire covers for 20 bucks from walmart, hides all wires and is paintable. |

I went with tv stand...thought about wall mount...But then you have to commit to the tv being there for a long time...There is a stand out there that gives you the illusion of it being wall mounted also...either way you have to have something to sit your ps3...blu ray player...cable box on...mounted looks good..but stand does too...so its however you like..your choice...they both look good.

Most walls in most houses are made from dry wall, but when you wall mount your tv you're actually screwing big 'ol screws into your wall studs. |

I'm in the market for an LCD for the bedroom and I would like to wall mount it. My biggest concern with wall mounting is what I would then do with a cable box, dvd player or other associated equipment. I heard that Sony, and maybe some other manufacturers, will soon be coming out with LCD TV's that use a new two way cable card. If this is true, it will solve at least one of my concerns. If anyone has any information on these new TV's, I would be very interested.

The room i am working with is only 9.5 feet by 14 feet and it is in my condo. Its not much room to work with, but it is dedicated to my HT. It is not a separate room ie.(enclosed by four walls), it is shared with the the dining area and the kitchen on the downstairs portion. Therefore i think i see wall-mounting in my future...Now i just gotta figure out how to go about doing it. DIY or hire somebody. It can get a bit expensive to hire someone.

I mounted mine. Cost effective (my bracket was about $90, efficient, and it hides the wires nicely. |

I would probably not wall mount. It would move the display farther from the viewing position and I would need a bigger display to compensate for the distance.
