Anybody going to renew NFL ST and if you do, what's the best deal you all can get it for?

Someone already posted they got it free by doing a 2 yr contract extension.

Hardy's case was completely different and had more evidence behind it.

And if refusing to turn over his phone and give up private info is considered not cooperating, that's ridiculous. I'd turn my phone over to no one. Always gonna be something in there that can be twisted, taken out of context, and used against you.

Yeah unless you have a warrant not getting my phone

NFL players are subject to much stricter rules than you or I, imagine there's something in there about surrendering the contents of your phone if called upon to do so.

I agree about not giving up your phone, but they could limit the scope of what they can view. Let's be real. The guy is guilty. Time to take his 4 game suspension and move on.

Additionally, this is not a criminal investigation or trial where there needs to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I liken this to a civil proceeding where the burden of proof is substantially lower for the plaintiff.

He's guilty for sure.

But he's guilty of doing something so small that many other QBs have likely done. It's the equivalent of doing a night in jail for going 10 over the speed limit. Makes no sense.

1 game I could've understood. But 4???

I know that just because others have done it doesn't make it right, and the NFL wants to make an example of any sort of breaking of the rules to uphold the integrity of the game... But 4 games is a bit extreme. And loss of draft picks?

I hope Brady comes back week 6 to embarrass the Colts. Would be awesome.

In news that no one will care about, our stadium name is now Nissan Stadium.

Much better than the awful LP Field name.

I believe the league has said the suspension is 4 games in part due to previous violations committed by the Patriots.

Florio...who hates the pats...is actually...changing his tune? Good read on the leagues "more probable then not" agenda here against the pats. He is spot on here

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-espn-reports/

Quote:
The point is that: (1) ESPN reported something the NFL believed to be inaccurate; and (2) the NFL immediately responded.

So let’s go back to January 20. On that day, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that 11 of 12 Patriots footballs used in the AFC title game were measured at a full two pounds under the 12.5 PSI minimum. It was a blatantly false report, but to this day many still believe it to be true.

In response, the NFL uttered not a peep, anywhere. No press release. No tweet from one of the many P.R. employees who work for the NFL. No leak to one of the many journalists who work for the NFL.

The disparity between today’s rapid-fire disagreement with Schefter’s procedural nuance and January’s silence in response to Mortensen’s critical factual assertion is stunning. And it lends credence to the belief that the NFL deliberately leaked false information in order to pin the Patriots against ropes that simply weren’t there.

If Aiello or anyone else from the NFL had responded swiftly to Mortensen’s erroneous report with the true numbers, which were measured by two significantly conflicting pressure gauges, the Patriots would have been able to shout down the readings by explaining the application of the Ideal Gas Law, the mainstream news media never would have paid serious attention to the situation, and Ted Wells never would have been called in to conduct an investigation that by all appearances was aimed at reaching a predetermined result.

The failure to rebut Mortensen’s report therefore bolsters the idea the entire episode was indeed orchestrated to catch the Patriots doing something, even if it’s still not clear what they did.

And Ted Wells investigated none of that. Even though Commissioner Roger Goodell has publicly claimed that Wells did.

Too steep. Yeah, but I expect he got such a steep punishment because of his reticence in being forthright with the commissioner. His credibility was deemed to be less than honest.

Ideal gas law is fine, but if they want a true reading they wouldn't use the ideal gas law as that assumes the air in the football is an ideal gas (which it isn't).

[Show spoiler]Though to be fair the actual deviation between ideal and real is minute and would essentially be the same reading.

I just can't stand people who see Ideal Gas Law and then regurgitate as if they actually understand how real and ideal gases work. How do I know about this: B.S. in Chemistry from the great University of Central Florida.

Pats fans still crying about fairness

I believe that only applies to the franchise portion of the punishment. I don't think that factors into a player reprimand, but I may be incorrect.

Remember when Favre was fined for failing to cooperate with the sexting investigation? $50k. And that was with "hard evidence" of wrongdoing.

The lack of consistency in player punishments is extremely disturbing.

That would be the secondary offense. It's not the original offense that got each in trouble.

Brady gets in trouble for improper inflation of a ball. Favre gets in trouble sexting a picture. Both then lie about it.

And they didn't prove either so why does one player get $50k and the other get 4 games for failure to cooperate? Even the evidence against Favre was more compelling than the crap they have on Brady.

It's a load of crap and you know it. Don't let your hate of the Patriots let Goodell off the hook.

One has to do with a sexting picture while the other has to do with the integrity of the game. If you can't see the difference, I can't help you

Show me where he was found guilty of said crime. He wasn't so the only thing they have on him is failure to cooperate. So they can trump up a misdemeanor to a felony or just do whatever punishment they want whenever they please? Good system. That's how you end up with the Ray Rice scandal.
