Pre-order before the film even opens in theatres?

Why do people still post this? Surely you've been around here long enough to realize this isn't anything new.

Pre-orders? This is the first time I've seen an ability to do so before the theatrical run has begun. I've seen plenty of announcements and placeholders... PLENTY. But, this is the first active one I've seen.

Plus, this is Canada we are talking about. Canadian retailers usually don't tell us about the steelbook release until a month before it releases.

If they stick with that art, I just might pick this up.

I agree on your point, but for example, Zavvi's Maleficent steelbook was available to pre-order about two weeks prior to the theatrical release and was sold out by the time it did come out in theaters. It's happened a couple other times, but that one sticks out in my mind the most because I argued with myself for an entire day whether to pre-order it or not. I ultimately did, and the next day, it was sold out.

A part of me still wishes they'd stuck with the white steel artwork, but the final product is absolutely stunning.

He has been around here long enough. And don't call him Shirley.

Too bad this movie is watered-down PG-13 nonsense.

I was so irritated when I saw the rating announced a few weeks ago. But recent years have shown R-rated action isn't as profitable compared to PG-13 action. I'm still going tonight with a few friends. $5.00 Tuesdays!

Pretty sure there will still be a few head-turning moments with my friends and I mouthing "This is PG-13?"

Jaws is PG ffs. I still find that hilarious. I leaned over to my 14 year old daughter as Quint was being eaten when we were watching it on Father's Day in the theater a couple of weeks ago, and said "remember, this is PG" lol.

They even show boobies in that opening scene when the girl is swimming.

There were people that brought little kids to it for some reason, like 4-6 year olds.

That was 1975, though, in the days before PG-13. I'm sure if Spielberg had gotten his sharks to function properly, it would've been a totally different movie and been more of a gore-fest than a psychologically terrifying one. I do laugh and agree with you, though, that the film is a head-scratcher for being PG. I remember my local TV listings giving it an R-rating in the descriptions growing up and being confused by the VHS we had which had the PG rating on it.

Having said that, Genisys had none of those moments where I questioned its PG-13 rating apart from the one f-bomb and the overuse of the word $h*t. The action was pretty tame with little to no blood and it never had the sense of terror and dread that the original two films evoked. It didn't even have clear butt shots of anyone when traveling through time. Booooo! I like butt shots, male or female!

Hell, Arnie was floppin' dong in the first Terminator, so we're definitely regressing.

Another side note: It was a blast seeing Jaws on the big screen. My sister and I convinced my mom to re-live her late teens terror by seeing it again at the theater. We did a double-header with Jurassic World that day.

Yeah, it's been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and my daughter has loved it since she first saw it a couple of years ago when I bought the blu-ray.

It was a nice Father's Day present to myself.
