Barring source limitations and imperfections, the PQ on their releases is usually very good. It also helps that they use the same encoder as Arrow.

I think that this is the release to go for, rather than Studio Canal.

Assuming it has the same extras, yeah definitely. I don't want to contend with possible forced subtitles and 1080i/50hz extras on that release if I don't have to

in the MM thread, Jared confirms same master as french release but with David Mackenzie encoding (the usual Arrow encoder) and also states that MM's extras will be 'more compelling'.

Mackenzie doing the compression certainly makes this one immediately more appealing. That and no import pricing and the hope of better extras.

So glad this has been announced. I like my UK DVD for the movie, but I'm ready to give it a rest.

We should have a bunch of news on this title in the near future. We're looking to go into production on this one soon so we should be able to announce the full specs in a week or two.

Likely this will be a limited edition BD first, available only through our webstore and maybe Diabolik DVD. A standard edition release will follow next year. Something like that, anyway.

We'll probably make the announcement through this site, so be on the lookout!

I hope you guys are getting every bit of HD footage you can to make this the best release possible. Michael Mackenzie noted a lot of missing frames on the French BD so you'd better be using that knowledge.

Yeah, we've been working with him and a few other people to sort this puzzle out. Sadly we are having trouble finding film sources to use for the missing footage. We have one option left after that and then we'll be forced to use an SD source. If that is the case you will be able to watch the film with or without the additional footage.
