20th Century Fox Home Alone (1990) (25th Anniversary Edition) (Remastered)

Hi guys,

Does anyone know about this?

http://moviepilot.com/posts/2015/07/...ampaign=buffer

I'll be visiting friends in San Diego but come home on the day it's released so I'll have to order online, any idea where yet?

Thanks,
Richard.

Ugh. No thanks. A paint can? Really? I won't be surprised if the discs are just stacked in that can.

The discs appear to be enclosed in another tin/case but, I agree, who comes up with these collector's editions. I can't see a paint can set selling all that well.

Home Alone is already available in 4K for streaming services. Hopefully they will use that transfer. Current Blu-ray is not that bad. But it can always be better.

The only thing I'll be interested to see is if the audio glitch on Home Alone 2 is fixed. Doubt it, but it would be a nice surprise.

Worst CE packaging ever. I think I can live without having Home Alone in 4k. Plus, the sequels all suck. I'll stick with my bargain bin blu-ray copy.

What glitch, do you have a time code? I'm happy to check, if the European disc is affected too.

Towards the end, the first time Marv builds that stack of junk to climb through the hole, when it crumbles there is a hilarious scream he lets out that is absent from the 5.1 track, but exists in the 2.0 track.

I'm in if Fox is using a 4K scan for Home Alone. The current disc isn't horrible but could use an improvement. Home Alone 2 actually doesn't look that bad, and I would never own 3 and 4 if I had to purchase them individually. I hate them both with a passion!!!!!

I have sent you a PM, please check. But I do notice the Home Alone 2 transfer suffers from the noise of the (old) film scanner they have used. Pretty distracting sometimes.

\\Edit: the glitch is also on the European disc. Both English DTS-HD Master and the core-track. I did played the German audio track as well, which still contains the original voice parts, there is no glitching/missing sound.

It's been so long I never even realized that was her. I'll hop on board and say I actually enjoy the third one, even if it is more nostalgia than anything now. It was good of them to go in a different direction and not do a direct sequel to the first two. Never seen 4 and 5 and probably won't.

The writer of the article commented on my question if this was for Blu-ray or DVD:

"1-5 ON DVD, 1-2 ON Blu-ray, 1-2 Digital HD"

So yeah.

That "Battle Plan" poster by Kevin is some top-of-the-line stuff they've included there in the packaging.

Easy pass... terrible packaging. Hopefully the 4K scan version will be out as a standalone non-CE release later or on UHD Blu-ray.
