This weekend I watched:

IMAX Mummies Secrets Of The Pharoahs - nice scenery and HD close-ups but no pop-outs, glad I only paid a couple of pounds for this

The Crocodile (aka Million Dollar Crocodile) - the Australian release actually has a decent English dub track but the 3D conversion is more than likely a German autoconversion, there really isn't much to it. The crocodile's CGI is just above SyFy standards and it doesn't really do much, so the film doesn't really have a lot to recommend it.

Adrenalin Rush (aka Quick) - another German conversion, the 3D looked marginally better because the subtitles made the conversion more noticeable, but again there was nothing to it. The film was throwaway but entertaining enough, a bit like Premium Rush crossed with Speed. I couldn't recommend the 3D version though.

Yesterday I watched Galapagos 3D (aka Fascination Galapagos). Though it ran under an hour, it was definitely worth the £1.99 I paid for it – lots of pop-out-friendly camera placement making for excellent 3D.

The main criticism I have is that the various animals in the documentary didn’t really do very much. There was a bit of headbutting between two iguanas in a territorial dispute but they mainly sat around blending into the scenery. Given that the documentary has a very relaxing soundtrack, long takes and not much action, the overall effect was a bit soporific. But I can’t fault the 3D – much better than you’d find in a Hollywood blockbuster, with the scenery and animals regularly spilling out of the screen.

No extras on the disc other than a bunch of 3D trailers for more nature documentaries.

Its funny how long it takes me to get to some of these and how I start to think about the movie before I even pick it for the night and then end up skipping over it, as I've done with Cars now for ages.

Glad I finally popped it in, since its such a great movie that's incredibly easy to watch over again and makes you realize how much you've forgotten.

The 3D was pretty much all depth. The animation style was one where you noticed the background in the distance as being very flat. I have a feeling the type of animation was a limiting factor in how much they could do to this one. Despite all this, the 3D made it an entirely different movie and was pretty darn convincing the whole time. I'd never watch it on 2D again that's for sure. 3.5/5 for the 3D but overall a recommended from me when the price makes sense again.

The 3D was great. As a huge Star Trek fan I still love this film.

Its time to finally add some golden age classics of 3D to my library.

After seeing all the rave reviews,I have been looking forward to The Bubble for some time.

I have a certain fondness for some musicals so I will surely enjoy Kiss Me Kate.

This weekend I watched:

StreetDance 3 All Stars 3D – excellent use of 3D with the space invaders sequence being a standout. I was annoyed to find that my Dutch blu ray is cut though, it’s missing an entire sequence. Why the distributors dropped the 3D on the (uncut) UK release I don’t know, I guess I'll have to try the German version...

Mars Needs Moms 3D – this film gets a lot of hate and it does have some corn but I found it very watchable, probably because I love space stuff and the visuals looked so good. It’s no surprise that I wasn’t impressed by the 3D, which is the typically unmemorable conservative variety that Disney favour.

The Croods 3D – I had read that the 3D wasn’t up to much so was very pleasantly surprised to find that the film has lots of pop-outs and use of the space in front of the screen. It’s a real treat to watch a 3D film where it’s evident that someone has thought about and included 3D effects for the viewers' pleasure. Another quality offering from Dreamworks that wipes the floor with Disney, I look forward to the sequel.

Totally agree about the Croods and still need to unwrap Mars needs Moms. Glad to hear its not a dud given some of the feedback

At my house we just watched this the other night:

3D is Strong and its a breathtaking trek through Madagascar! Morgan Freeman is perfect as the Narrator. The IMAX video never ceases to amaze me. I just picked it up after someone here broadcasted the $9.99 deal (thank you Paul H!). At that price, it made sense. It really is only 39 minutes so I would have a hard time recommending it at the $20+ its usually priced at.

Tried to watch Box Office 3d on my new Ivid Bd780 all-region but the disc refuses to play the 3d version and tells me (in Italian) I need a 3d tv. So i put in the Mortician which works. Don't know if the BO disc is corrupted (?)

Last night I watched Run 3D (which thanks to region coding restrictions I had to import from Germany where it's called Street Run 3D).

Even though my quality control bar is set fairly low, I couldn't help wincing at the abysmal script, shoddy editing and terrible CGI. The editing hurts the most for a film showcasing parkour - there's a big deal made of a jump through a hole in a warehouse wall but even though several characters do it it's never shown in one take and consequently you can't believe that any of them did it for real.

The 3D is real at least so provides proper depth and space, and though it's not "in your face" there is some use of negative parallax which helps immeasurably in making the film tolerably watchable. As does good old Eric Roberts. I'd never recommend this film in 2D though, never.

Watched Home 3D.

I thought this was a good little kids flick. My five year old loved it too. The 3D added a lot of fun to the movie overall. Solid depth and some fun pop outs. I'd recommend it for the $22.

I tried to watch this one last night. My player and my TV couldn't seem to get along enough to have the player recognize the TV as 3D for this disk so I would get an Italian error message when I went to go choose the 3D option stating I needed a 3Dtv. I spent about 1.5 hours then trying to troubleshoot and do things in different orders and reconnect things differently and no matter what I did, it just wouldn't let me choose the 3D option without that error preventing it from playing.

Complete bummer since I've been waiting for a good opportunity where my wife would willing to give this one a spin with me. I did check it in my region A player and it is definitely Region B locked like Ratatouille.

Sorry guys, can't say much about this one.
