I agree about the facial sculpt needing to be accurate, but what does skin texture have to do with such a small-scaled model? Who examines something 12" tall with a magnifying glass?

As for the hair, I agree it should resemble the proper style for the character in question...but that's virtually impossible to match 100%. Every actor's hair changes slightly with every shot in a film, because they're all filmed on separate days or weeks apart before editing. When you're molding the hair as a permanent part of the head, some kind of consensus has to be reached. As for fabric-based hair, I don't really understand the workings of it, so no comment there.

Guess it's time to get Rocket and Groot! Been holding out for a Drax confirmation before biting. I'll take that Fury too!

Really cool they went this route with him this time. Detailed eye and fabric eyepatch!

Here is an example of two figures from my collection of the same character done in the same scale but by different companies. I like the Kotobukiya version but the face looks like wax. Now for the Hot Toys version, the plastic looks like flesh; as if the actor was miniaturized and frozen in time. This life-like rendering is what collectors strive for or at least I do. I want the best representation of a film character available. As for the hair, you kind of answered yourself, "it should resemble the proper style for the character". Go to a comic shop and examine some of the figures they may have available and you will see the difference is almost like night and day.

They probably just used textured paint and/or airbrushes for the Hot Toys version; that's all I see different in terms of the skin. But whoever made that cast for the Kotobukiya version should be shot; it doesn't look a thing like Henry Cavill.

Does the actual figure look that good? Because that looks like a promo shot.

I have one of their predator Durch figures, and he is indeed exceptional. Sometimes Neca is great for sure!

Turns out that it is only 4" in height and $40. Not at all what I was expecting.

Actually, that's at half of their normal pricing rates. It's $10 per inch. That would make their 1/6th scale figures $120 at 12 inches in height.

That would be a much better deal than their current prices; I'd readily pay that for the 1/6-scaled figures, instead of hesitating.
