Disagree totally. This is a collectors item and should have all versions of the film included. 3D Steelbooks almost always sell out for sought after movies like this one. 2D, on the other hand, clutter store shelves forever. Also keep in mind, that the post converted 3D for Fury Road is amazing, maybe one of the best out there, and also the preferred version of the film by Miller himself.

Miller responded to the question of his preference on 3D this way:

OK, I love 3D stereo! In fact, when we were going to shoot this back in 2001, I was dumb enough to try to do it classic analglyph and just have a few scenes with the green and red as it were. In this film, if I had a choice, I'd see it in 3D, but I'm extremely aware that some people can't tolerate it.

We're asking audiences to do something that we do not do in nature, and that is force where you look in space in that circle of z axis. And if you don't get it right, you can cause pain and you can cause nausea. With a quick action movie this, the average cut is 2 seconds, 90 frames, that can be really distressing. One of the things that took so long, and we were working 20 hours a day right up until the end was to make it as creamy as possible. I'm very happy to say that it's very creamy.

The US release has a bluish tint on it, while this one just looks better and is the normal brown poster

I do agree 100% that a Steelbook by nature is more of a hardcore collector's type thing right off the hop so it stands to reason that those type of people that buy Steels likely have a higher chance of owning a 3D TV to begin with than the average joe who just doesn't care about packaging whatsoever and always just grabs a standard release. That being said its still a much smaller percentage of people who buy 3D titles as compared to regular 2D. Its a double edged sword and I understand and see both sides of it.

There are a small number of people who buy physical media in the US, period.

3D is just the ultimate version and people want it just as they want the Director's cut or extended edition, or whatever.

Usually you don't get a barebones disc with a SteelBook release.

As much as I want the steel to have the 3D version, I wouldn't want the "3D" plastered on this awesome cover.

When the steels I want don't have the 3D disc, I just obtain the 3D version in other ways -- the Target exclusive of Edge of Tomorrow is an example of an amazing steel but no 3D disc.

yea true, its about 4k thats the true next generation of HD's.
