The Journey theme preview shows a calendar though. So maybe 3.00 is coming in the near future.

Lots of new features coming later this year and next year. DVR functionality needs a tie-in to a Calendar for reminders...Live events viewer needs a Calendar and a Log/Contact-Friend app needs that too.

ooVoo needs the Contact/Friends list and it's overdue. One of the ooVoo features is video chat while watching a Youtube Video and mentioned in the 2015 CES Youtube possibly Netflix. That plus local Home movie and picture viewing while chatting brings up potential DRM issues. The current DLNA player is a placeholder as it is a Game app and doesn't support DRM.

Think that eventually the OS will be finished and what features should it have as the Living room central server/client for all media and IoTs.

Yeah it works but as far as I can see it only shows PS4 games and you can't access your followed channels from it like you can on the X1 and iOS apps.

So use the built in PS4 Internet Browser, where it's full featured and also works flawlessly(as far as I can tell?)

A Gamepad has always felt clunky.. even with PS3's browser & even MS's IE browser.. Or Nintendo, doesn't matter which console, they all suck with a controller.

This, a thousand times this. My collection has gotten hard to browse, especially with all the PS+ games I've gotten since launch. I forget that I have some of these games sometimes! If I could group my games by genre that'd be awesome.

Were these really something we needed? Maybe I don't use these features like I am supposed to but I don't see the need for these two additions.

Amazon and HBO Go definitely do not work. Well, didn't the last time I tried, I suppose it's possible they do now. I'd be surprised if any of them did.

EDIT: But for what it's worth, I'd be perfectly ok to not have an app if the browser worked for them. Why have Sony, who's already notoriously slow on things like this, working towards something the device already supports when it can instead work on something that isn't already supported?
