Not when the film was shown theatrically in 5.1.

Is that a limitation of when it was released. Could films be mixed at higher then released as standard 5.1 because most theatre's have that in common, or are we saying whatever mix it was shown with in theatres is the only true mix of a film?

The whole idea of 7.1 even now on native productions is probably just take from other channels and add them in, rather than record seperate audio just for the sides anyway.

As I understand it, the theatrical sound version is not the same thing as the version that ends up on our discs except in rare cases. Would need a sound engineer to confirm this though.

They don't do that. Native 7.1 is native 7.1, with certain sounds placed in the soundfield in that configuration.

American History X and other New Line 7.1 remixes are what you said, with information gleaned from other channels.

Does anyone have the ES version of Pan's labyrinth? Im curious how the transfer compares to the UK blu-ray. I like the 7.1 audio and I was wondering if it has the UK transfer or if it's a port of the US disc and slathered in DNR.

This was discussed long ago. If I remember correct it's definiately not US transfer but more like UK/Nordic (better) but with the best US audio.

JP has best PQ, a nudge better than UK/nordic and ES/US have best AQ. Too bad the JP is missing eng subs.

Don't belive everything you read Nahh kidding. There have not been any real confirmed comparisons with ES and JP vs UK. Only smaller caps and other persons reviews not on this forum so it's hard to back it up. All good transfers stem from same source, just JP is highest bitrate. Nordic is better than UK in some scenes, that I have seen for myself but worse in others so UK got the win in the end and hence the best PQ here but other reviewers didn't own ES I think. So we go with what we have for the moment

I own UK v2 myself so be happy with that I would say. Can't vouch for ES myself. Love the movie but it won't be any better versions until whole new master is made. Maybe in 4k....

Just ordered a few from Japan
~Equilibrium Blu-ray YAY! finally oar/lossless
~The Jacket
~Lost Highway, cheapest i could get it
~Existenz

Existenz JP Blu- anybody got it?

Getting ready to do another order since prices are fair, T2 Ultimate, is it all 3 cuts? Here says 2, but the most info i can get is about the Fuji TV dub. On a zoomed in back of package it has Japanese text and 153, the next line is a +3 and Japanese text. It seems like 153 & 156 minute cut but a 40$ price keeps me from wanting to make another T2 purchase if it isnt. Back 10 pages, someone said same as Premium, but premium here is listed as both 2 and 3 cuts.
There also apears to be 2 versions 1 disc or 2 disc with slip, Google translate isnt really helping much in the whats included portion. Any help would be appreciated.

Abre Los Ojos or the Alejandro Amenabar collection. Can anyone confirm descent English subtitles?

Sabotage and Snowpiercer are listed here as Cropped US editions. i get the 1.78 v 1.85 but is it more than that?
*1 more. Elephant Man, are all the same within reason?

For T2 you should just buy the new US disc since that is the best and only transfer for now and it has all (I think) versions at least the two that counts.

On Snow some have "little" better PQ and others better AQ but the best overall package is still US 2-disc I would say since the FR deluxe editions don't have english subs on main and extras.

Does anyone have an opinion on the "Wither" blu-ray? It's also available in Germany under the "Cabin of the Dead" title. I have the DVD, but I'm trying to find a blu-ray with English subtitles. Thanks for any help.

The DE release seems to be the only one. So it looks like you'll have to either learn Swedish or German or just wait for an English friendly release.

I placed 2 large orders on Amazon.de & Amazon.fr for a lot of stuff not shown on the list. When everything arrives, I'll gladly share the specs for everyone.
