That's because most of them are actually directed by Kevin Feige, not who's ever in the director's chair.

Bobcat actually makes really good movies - World's Greatest Dad and God Bless America are on Netflix, check 'em out.

Sometimes a bad director is just a BAD director, they just can't do the job.

He was only doing what he was hired to do and he just wasn't good enough to take on a pre-established franchise project of this sort. It's like a gourmet restaurant hiring the fry cook from a fast food restaurant because he happened to make some good fries.
I agree with that. The studio played cheapskate from day 1. They hired him for peanuts. They changed the roles to all being really young to save on actors salaries. They approved a script that was 90% indoors or "outdoor via greenscreen" to save money. The supporting cast is 90 bit players--except Nelson and Cathay (who are not expensive).

Every decision they made was to save money. They saw what Marvel was doing and what the DC universe was gearing up to do and decided to try and make a bargin basement comic based movie using a franchise known for its epic scale and space adventures.

They didn't keep the director on a leash and let the cast fend for themselves when common sense said they were in for a rough ride.

I hope the actors get over this and have success and chose never to work for Fox if they make it big.

Most of the actors should be fine after this. I mean they were all pretty well established or getting that way. I don't think this film will hurt them to bad. If anything they can look back and laugh about it.

yeah, this isn't going to kill them. most of them have success to a degree, or are diversified enough that this won't damage them. Catwoman didn't destroy Halle Berry, and Affleck is doing kinda well after Daredevil...

i really thought the trailer looked good for a comic book movie, which i could care less about the genre. the terminator trailer looked like a really bad movie, but the reviews are tearing this apart.

Wow. Those YouTube reviews are brutal. I have some movie cash I gotta use before the end of the month and I was planning to see this. But it's sounding like I'd be better off just letting the voucher expire than waste 2 hours on this flick.

Is there anything else coming out before the end of August to see instead? And don't say Man From U.N.C.L.E. I caught a free screening of that last night, so that's off the list. BTW, that was not a very good movie(competently made, but kinda dull).

This Gift and Straight Outta Compton are both supposed to be very good.

Sinister 2 could be decent if you have a free ticket

Dull is the last word I'd use to describe a Guy Ritchie movie.

Yeah, if The Gift gets good reviews, I may catch that. Nice to see Bateman in a movie that's different from his usual fare. And I am curious about Straight Outta Compton. Are there any reviews out yet for that one?

Just got back from seeing this. Overall it was OK film, not a total disaster. Actors are fine ,but the script or screenplay is lacking. There is no action what so ever except the last 10 mins. Which feels off and you can tell this film had no action at all and this was added in and feels odd. Not sure how this story was given the green light. Seriously the first 90 mins could been told within 20mins. Again the actors did OK and can come out of this with with no scars, but everyone else should take a deep look at themselves and ask how we let this happen.
Strange thing is , I hope they make another with the same cast land see what they can do.

Every decision they made was to save money.
Plus they rushed everything to meet a legal deadline so their property rights didn't expire. That was their top priority for making this movie. If it wasn't for the fear of missing out on a bunch of money later on, Fox wouldn't have even bothered making a Fantastic Four movie.

I hope this movie bombs bad enough that Fox takes a total bath on this movie. Not just because they really deserve it, but because I fear they might do the same thing with X-Men somewhere down the line (i.e. slap together and insult audiences with a cheap product just to hang on to legal rights).
